Air India will start direct flights from Guwahati to Dubai and Abu Dhabi from August 2026. These are the first non-stop services linking Assam directly to the UAE.
The flights will be operated by Air India from Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
Two new direct routes begin on 4 August 2026:
- Guwahati to Dubai: Non-stop service to the UAE’s busiest aviation hub.
- Guwahati to Abu Dhabi: Non-stop service to the UAE capital.
Air India has not yet published the flight frequency, timings, or aircraft type for either route.

The new flights remove the need to connect through Delhi, Kolkata or Mumbai to reach the Gulf. That is a meaningful saving for the Assamese diaspora, business travellers and tourists heading to the UAE.
The state government is also positioning Guwahati as a regional transit hub. Sarma said direct services to Vietnam are the next goal.
The announcement also follows the EU’s recent decision to lift restrictive travel advisories for Assam. The state government has framed both developments as a boost to tourism and international engagement.
