Air India news: Delhi–Toronto nonstop is back

Air India restored daily Delhi–Toronto flights from 1 August 2026, replacing the outbound fuel stop in Vienna with a planned nonstop operation. The airline says the change remains subject to available airspace and is intended to reduce the Delhi–Toronto flying time from about 20 hours, including the stop, to about 17 hours.

The daily AI187 service now uses a brand-new Boeing 787-9, while the return AI188 continues nonstop. For travellers whose priority is a shorter journey and fewer disruptions from a technical stop, the direct flight is the option to look for when comparing an itinerary.

The aircraft has Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Air India says this is the first time Premium Economy has been available on the Delhi–Toronto route; its new B787-9 layout has 30 Business suites, 28 Premium Economy seats and 238 Economy seats.

Easy Connect from Amritsar makes a Delhi connection simpler

Air India launched two daily Easy Connect flights from Amritsar on 28 July, linking Punjab to 27 international destinations through Delhi. The airline says eligible international passengers can check through to their final destination, clear immigration in Amritsar and transfer in Delhi without re-checking baggage or changing terminals.

The morning AI1113 is scheduled to reach Delhi at 10:40 AM, while the evening AI1115 is scheduled to arrive at 11:20 PM. Air India says the services offer onward options within four hours of arrival in Delhi, with the morning service aligned to selected European and West Asian connections and the late service to destinations including Canada, the United States and Australia.

There are important eligibility details to check before booking. Air India says Indian passport holders connecting internationally on Easy Connect must enrol in DigiYatra, and web check-in and customs declaration are not available at spoke airports.

Wider Air India routes and cabin changes to watch

Air India’s 2026 product programme is not limited to Toronto. The airline says its summer plan includes a B787-9 on Delhi–Tokyo, new or retrofitted cabin interiors on Mumbai–London Heathrow services, and upgraded interiors with First Class on four-times-weekly Delhi–Melbourne flights through August.

For connections through Delhi or Mumbai, the aircraft shown when you book matters as much as the route. Air India Express currently operates the Navi Mumbai–Abu Dhabi route three times weekly, according to an Air India group cargo update published in July. The service used for the report was operated by a Boeing 737-8 and carried the first international export shipment from Navi Mumbai International Airport on 15 July.
