The Nonstop Is Back and What It Costs
Air Algérie is flying nonstop between Algiers and Doha again, nearly seven months after it suspended the route. Hamad International Airport announced the flight’s arrival on 30 September. Air Algérie said it would fly three times a week at first and every day from 25 October, La Nouvelle République reports.
From Algiers, Air Algérie was the cheapest fare we found. In our early November sample it cost USD 110 less than Qatar Airways, which also flies the route nonstop, and USD 75 less than Royal Jordanian via Amman. From Doha, Pegasus via Istanbul was USD 71 cheaper but took nearly five hours longer, and the Qatar Airways nonstop cost USD 227 more.
Air Algérie suspended its flights to and from Qatar in February, citing the safety of its passengers and crews as the situation in the Middle East changed, according to the same report. In March, Algérie Presse Service said the Doha flights remained suspended until further notice.
Getting the Timing Right
- Leaving Algiers around midnight: you land in Doha between 07:45 and 09:00, with a full day ahead.
- Leaving Doha mid-morning: flights leave between 09:15 and 10:30 and land in Algiers in the early afternoon.
- Check the time on your ticket: from 25 October, the Algiers departure is at 23:40 on some days and 00:40 on others. A 00:40 flight leaves just after midnight, so head to the airport the evening before the date on your ticket.
- Flying time: about 6 hours 5 minutes to Doha and 6 hours 35 minutes back. Doha is two hours ahead of Algiers.
Visas and Baggage Before You Book
- Algerian citizens visiting Qatar: you need a tourist visa, which you apply for on the Hayya platform for QAR 100, according to Visit Qatar. See our Qatar tourist visa guide for the steps.
- Qatari citizens visiting Algeria: check the current entry rules with the Embassy of Algeria in Doha before you book.
- Baggage: the allowance depends on the fare type, so check it on the fare screen before you pay.
Flights from Algiers land in Doha in the early morning, so book your room from the night before if you want to check in and rest straight away.

Yes. It takes about 6 hours 5 minutes to Doha and 6 hours 35 minutes back to Algiers, on an Airbus A330 according to the flights on sale on Wego.
Is Air Algérie cheaper than Qatar Airways from Algiers to Doha?
In our early November sample, yes: USD 325 return from Algiers against USD 435 on Qatar Airways, and USD 480 from Doha against USD 707.
Do Algerians need a visa for Qatar?
Yes. Algerian citizens apply for a tourist visa on the Hayya platform, and the fee is QAR 100, according to Visit Qatar.
Why did Air Algérie stop flying to Doha?
The airline suspended its Qatar flights in February 2026, citing the safety of passengers and crews given the situation in the Middle East. Flights restarted at the end of September.
