Red Sea Global (RSG), renowned for its groundbreaking regenerative tourism projects such as the Red Sea and Amaala, has set its sights on a new endeavor that promises to redefine travel experiences. In accordance with reports from Wego, RSG is demonstrating its unwavering dedication to enhancing infrastructure standards and bolstering connectivity by embarking on the revitalization of Al Wajh Airport (EJH), a pivotal transportation hub.

Introduction of RSG’s latest project: Al Wajh Airport renovation

Red Sea Global (RSG) has unveiled its first project within an expanded portfolio, embarking on a mission to rejuvenate Al Wajh Airport (EJH), with the objective of raising it to international standards.

This includes improving the existing terminal and infrastructure, as well as constructing a new international terminal, with the design set to be revealed soon. Moreover, the enhancements are poised to augment EJH’s capacities, ushering in more direct flight options and bolstering connectivity, thereby fostering new employment prospects within the local community.

Expanding aviation projects under RSG

Al Wajh Airport (EJH) will also reportedly be better equipped to support the various developments in the area, serving as a gateway to the Amaala destination, another project by RSG. Furthermore, the airport will become the new operational base for Fly Red Sea, which is the Kingdom’s first seaplane company.

The development adds to the growing list of aviation projects within the group. Last month, Red Sea International Airport (RSI), also developed by RSG, welcomed its first domestic flight, and a regular schedule is now in place. Additionally, RSG is actively involved in the development of a second private airport located in close proximity to The Red Sea and Amaala destinations.

Transfer of SAUDIA flights to RSI

As part of the ongoing modernization efforts at Al Wajh Airport (EJH), four Saudia-operated flights are slated for relocation to Red Sea International Airport (RSI). This change is set to take effect from 29 October 2023.

The new flight schedule from Riyadh (RUH) to RSI includes a Thursday arrival at 3:10 PM and a departure at 4:05 PM. Additionally, the existing Saturday service will now arrive at RSI at 2:45 PM and depart at 3:35 PM, while a third Riyadh flight will land on Sundays at 8:30 AM, departing RSI at 9:25 AM.

Moreover, RSI is expanding its services by handling flights to and from King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah. The new Jeddah service will operate every Thursday, with arrivals at RSI at 2:20 PM and departures to JED at 3 PM. A Sunday service will arrive at RSI at 7:40 AM and depart for JED at 8:20 AM.

For passengers who have already booked flights to Al Wajh starting 29 October, they will be automatically redirected to RSI. To ensure a seamless transition, RSG is providing complimentary shuttle services between RSI and Al Wajh Airport, as well as between RSI and Umluj.

In addition to these airport developments, the first two hotels in the area are now open for bookings. Upon full completion in 2030, the destination will encompass 50 resorts, offering up to 8,000 hotel rooms and over 1,000 residential properties situated across 22 islands and six inland sites. The destination will also feature luxury marinas, golf courses, an array of entertainment options, diverse food and beverage choices, and a wide range of leisure facilities.
