What visa option your passport gets for Baku
A presidential order signed on 25 August lets anyone with a ticket to the Baku Grand Prix collect a visa at the airport. It runs until 30 September. Race day is Saturday 26 September, and our Baku Grand Prix guide carries the fares and the grandstand prices.
Baku’s Heydar Aliyev airport is where the airport visa is issued, so that is where your flight has to land.
What counts as proof at the airport
| What you show | Who it covers |
|---|---|
| A ticket to the 2026 Baku race, an electronic ticket, or a document confirming you bought one | Spectators |
| An accreditation card, or other proof of accreditation, from Formula One Management Limited or the FIA | Teams, media and series staff |

Questions
Can I get an Azerbaijan visa on arrival for the Baku Grand Prix?
Yes, if you are carrying proof that you are going to the race. A presidential order dated 25 August 2026 lets anyone holding a race ticket, an electronic ticket, proof of purchase, or accreditation from Formula One Management, the FIA or the Baku City Circuit Operations Company collect a visa at any Azerbaijani international airport between 25 August and 30 September 2026.
What if I do not have a race ticket?
Then the ordinary rules apply. Many passports are already visa free, either on Azerbaijan’s standing list or under the temporary deal running into 2027. The passport picker above shows both lists in full. Everyone else applies through the ASAN Visa portal at evisa.gov.az before flying, and a handful of nationalities need an embassy visa instead.
How much does the Azerbaijan e-visa cost?
The state fee for a single entry visa is USD 20, and the ASAN portal charges a further USD 9 to process the application. Both are paid online by card, and the state fee is not refunded if the visa is refused. The presidential order does not set a separate fee for a visa issued at the airport.
How long does the Azerbaijan e-visa take?
A standard e-visa is issued within three working days, and you are asked to apply at least three working days before you travel. An urgent application is issued within three hours, including on weekends and public holidays. Your passport has to stay valid for at least three months beyond the visa’s expiry date.
Do I have to register once I arrive in Baku?
Only if you are staying more than 15 days, which most race visitors will not be. Past that point you register your place of stay with the State Migration Service, online, by email or at an ASAN service centre. Hotels usually handle it for their guests. There is no fee for registering.

How this was checked
- Every rule here was read off Azerbaijan’s own government sites on 16 September 2026, not off a news report. The presidential order is quoted from president.az in Azerbaijani.
- The dated visa-free arrangements lapse on their own schedule: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman to 15 February 2027, Japan and South Korea to 1 July 2027, Singapore and Bosnia and Herzegovina to 1 August 2027. All cover three entries of up to 30 days. Recheck this page as each date passes.
- Iran, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Lebanon and Hong Kong service or diplomatic passports appear on one Ministry of Foreign Affairs page of standing exemptions, but that same page also lists a North Macedonia window that expired in March 2023 and is clearly not kept current. None of those five appear on this page without a second, current source to confirm them.
- The order sets no fee for a visa issued at the airport. Azerbaijan’s published state fee for a single entry visa is USD 20, and the USD 9 charge is the ASAN portal’s own processing fee on an online application.
- The list of passports that can apply online changes. The panel for other passports deliberately sends you to the official list rather than repeating it here.
- No fares were sampled for this page. Prices for the race weekend live in the Baku Grand Prix guide, which was priced separately.
