Is Bahrain’s Airspace Open Right Now?
Yes. The Bahrain Flight Information Region, the airspace where Bahrain provides air traffic services, is open to civil traffic.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency keeps a conflict-zone warning over the wider Gulf. It was revised on 31 August 2026 and runs to 30 September 2026 unless reviewed earlier.
The important detail is what that revision changed. EASA tells the airlines it covers to stay out of the airspace over the waters of the Persian Gulf, but it specifically allows flights arriving at or departing from airports in the region, Bahrain included. Over land, the advice is to exercise caution.
In plain terms: a covered airline should not cruise across the Gulf waters, but it may fly you into and out of Bahrain.

What It Means for Your Booking
An EASA bulletin is safety advice to airlines. It does not close the airspace, close the airport or cancel your ticket. It binds European operators and certain non-European airlines flying under an EASA authorisation, which is why Bahrain’s schedule has stayed full throughout.
Gulf Air, Emirates, flydubai, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Kuwait Airways, Air Arabia, EgyptAir, IndiGo and Air India Express are all operating at Bahrain. British Airways is the notable gap, with no London service and no published resumption date.

The King Fahd Causeway to Saudi Arabia is open and moving freely. Once across, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam is the nearest major alternative, subject to your Saudi entry permission.
