Suburban trains have always been an indelible part of Bangalore. Citizens of this metropolis have always been attached to the calm and chaos of local trains. Students and office goers are heavily dependent on rail services for their daily commute needs.

The ongoing pandemic and lockdown situation has greatly affected train schedules in the city. Read ahead to know all about the current status of rail services in the city.

Are local trains available now?

The state of Karnataka was under strict lockdown restrictions in a bid to bring down COVID-19 cases. After 55 days of suspending all modes of public transport services, including railways, Bus Corporations in Karnataka and Bangalore Metro Rail Services are all set to resume now.

Metro trains in Bangalore will run during peak hours (7 AM to 11 AM and 3 PM to 6 PM) every five minutes. All passengers will have to adhere to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.

When will Bangalore trains open to the general public?

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on June 10 unveiled an unlock plan that will kick in from June 14 in 19 districts where relaxations have been given. Yet local train services remain stopped.

Train services across Karnataka are expected to resume in a phased manner adhering to all safety precautions against COVID-19 once the lockdown is eased.
