Bangkok Floods 2026: Airport Status, Flight Updates and Airline Change Policies

Last updated: Oct 1, 2026

Bangkok’s two airports, Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Don Mueang (DMK), are open and flights are running, but Thai Airways has canceled flights from 29 September, lists more cancellations through 3 October and is still clearing a baggage backlog at Suvarnabhumi.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said on 29 September that travel conditions in Bangkok have improved. The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers, with isolated heavy rain, in Bangkok on 5 and 6 October. Several airlines offer free changes, though some cover only flights from 26 to 28 September.

Checked 1 October 2026. Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang are open and flights are operating, and TAT said on 29 September that travel conditions have improved. The disruption is now mainly at Suvarnabhumi, where Thai Airways has canceled flights through 3 October and is still returning delayed bags. Airline terms are as reported, so confirm with your airline before you change a ticket.

Getting to the airports right now
Check before you go
Lat Krabang road to Suvarnabhumi
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) earlier advised avoiding this route because of waterlogging. Its 29 September update lists no road warnings, so check local traffic before you drive. CGTN reported on 30 September that housing estates in Lat Krabang were still flooded and cut off.
Metered taxis at Don Mueang
TAT earlier reported metered taxis at Don Mueang suspended, with pick-up and drop-off moved to the Service Hall. Its latest update does not mention taxis, so check on arrival, or use the Red Line or the airport buses.
State Railway Eastern Line
Suspended in an earlier TAT update. TAT’s 29 September update says rail services are operating across most routes but does not mention this line. The Northern Line has reopened and the Northeastern and Southern lines are running. Check ttsview.railway.co.th or call 1690 before you travel by train.
Allow extra time
Driving to Suvarnabhumi
Motorway No. 7 and the Burapha Withi Expressway avoid the Lat Krabang road. TAT earlier advised allowing 3 hours for international flights and 2 for domestic, so leave extra time.
Driving to Don Mueang
Take the Don Muang Tollway, which runs direct to the terminal. Roads around the airport had localized flooding earlier, and BMTA airport buses A1 to A4 may be delayed.
Collecting checked bags at Suvarnabhumi
Flooding kept some Thai Airways ground staff away, so about 10,000 bags piled up between 26 and 28 September. Troops have helped on site since 26 September and 100 more Royal Thai Air Force personnel joined on 30 September, with about 8,000 bags left to clear, Nation Thailand reports. Domestic passengers can also have bags delivered home through a Thailand Post service point at the terminal. Thai Airways passengers who arrived between 26 and 29 September can track their bag at baggage.airportthai.co.th and collect it at the Thai Airways Delayed pick-up area, 2nd Floor, Exit 1, with their passport, boarding pass and baggage tag, Airports of Thailand says. Parking is free while you collect, on Suvarnabhumi 7 Road, Level 1, in front of the terminal, according to Airports of Thailand. Thai Airways baggage lines: 0-2134-5373-74 (domestic) and 0-2134-5466-68 (international).
