Our travel data from 24–31 December 2024 indicates that the best time to book your flights this year is between 20 November and 10 December.
Why? According to our data, flight prices dropped steadily throughout last year, reaching their lowest point in December. Travelers who waited until then saved about 36% compared to booking in January and 6% compared to November.
We expect a similar pattern this year, too. So if you’ve got some flexibility, the “booking late and saving more” strategy could work in your favor again (you just need some wiggle room in your travel plans).
Why this timing works
Common knowledge says it is best to book your flights early, but not too early. Our 2024 data shows fares began falling about three months before Christmas. They kept falling month after month, even as more GCC families started booking their winter holiday flights.
Airlines often release cheaper tickets when many seats remain unsold close to departure. In fact, last year fares dipped to about USD 470 in December, the lowest point of the year, even as demand surged.
The sweet spot came when falling prices met rising demand, roughly from 20 November to 10 December. This was the last practical chance to book at the lowest fares before Christmas week.
