Indian nationals in the UAE can now book appointments online for passport, visa and attestation services, after the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai launched a new booking portal.
The first batch of appointments went live at 8pm on 6 July 2026, for services the next day.
The portal replaces a walk-in-only system that both missions had been running since 2 July 2026, after delays in switching to a new outsourced service provider. If you need a passport, visa or attestation service at either mission, here’s what’s changed and how to book.
Why the appointment system changed
Both missions have been handling passport, visa and attestation services directly since 2 July 2026, after a legal dispute delayed the handover to a new outsourced provider. The Embassy’s June 19 press release named M/s Al Hind Tours and Travel LLC as the incoming provider, replacing BLS International and SGIVS Global.
Unsuccessful bidders challenged the tender award in court, delaying Al Hind’s takeover. Khaleej Times reported that hundreds of applicants queued at both missions once walk-in-only service began, prompting the new appointment portal.
How to book your appointment
Book your appointment at book.passportindiauae.com, selecting either the Abu Dhabi Embassy or the Dubai Consulate as your jurisdiction. You’ll need to register, verify your email, and complete your application before reserving a time slot.
Appointment slots are released at 8pm the evening before — the first batch opened at 8pm on 6 July for services on 7 July. Once booked, you’ll receive a confirmation with a QR code to present at the counter.
Prepare these before your appointment:
- Fill your passport form in advance: Complete the application on mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission before you arrive.
- Check your photo and signature: Signatures and thumb impressions must be uploaded with a clear white background.
- Bring supporting documents: Arrive with a completely filled form and all required documents — incomplete applications won’t be processed.
- Carry exact cash: Fees are accepted only in cash at present, so bring the exact amount for your service.
Entry rules and walk-in options
Walk-in services are still available, but only at the Abu Dhabi Embassy, and only from 9am to 11am. Priority goes to newborn cases and emergency certificate applications.
The Dubai Consulate no longer accepts walk-ins for these services — you must book online.
The notice also spells out exactly where to enter each building:
- Embassy in Abu Dhabi: Enter via the Main Gate on Al Safarat Street. Document delivery and other queries go to the Consular Wing, Unit No. 101, 1st Floor, Guardian Tower (Technip Building), Al Ishirah Street.
- Consulate in Dubai: Enter via Gate No. 2 for passport and visa applications. Attestation services, document delivery, and queries on already-submitted applications use Gate No. 1.
- Arrival time: If you have an appointment, arrive 15 minutes early.
- Who can enter: Only the applicant is allowed inside, except for minors, where both parents must be present.
New passport and consular fees from 1 July 2026
Passport and consular fees for the UAE increased on 1 July 2026, part of a worldwide revision to India’s passport fee schedule. Both missions are still collecting payment only in cash, so bring exact change for your service.

Do I need an appointment for every consular service in the UAE?
