Umrah packages on Wego are bookable end to end from a phone: flights, your hotel stay, transport where the package includes it, and the visa application in one flow at wego.com/umrah. This guide walks the whole thing on a phone, screen by screen.
The short version
- One flow, up to four parts. Flights, hotel, transport where it is included, and the visa application are booked together rather than assembled separately.
- Filters do the work. A single search returns thousands of packages, filterable by nights in Makkah, nights in Madinah, hotel class, transfers and budget.
- You need an account to finish. Browsing and pricing are open; selecting a package sends you to sign-in before traveller details and payment.
- Umrah closes for Hajj. For the current 1448 AH season, Umrah visas stop being issued on 9 March 2027 and all pilgrims must leave by 7 April 2027.

The search card sits on the landing screen with your nearest airport already filled in from your location. The destination is fixed to Jeddah, because that is the gateway airport for Makkah. You are choosing an origin, a month and a headcount, nothing more.

Change your departure city
Tap the airport row and type a city. Results separate the metro area from individual airports, so a city with more than one airport lets you pick which. Dubai returns DXB, Al Maktoum (DWC) and the bus station.

This is the screen that saves money. Flexible Month shows whole months with a starting price on each, so you can see September against October before committing. Exact Date is there if your leave is already fixed.

Open the full inventory and every card expands into the actual trip: outbound flight and carrier, the transfer, the named hotel and how many nights, the transfer back, the return flight.

Filter down to what you want
The filter sheet is where a list of thousands becomes a decision. Sort by recommended, price or date, then set hotel class, nights in Makkah, nights in Madinah, whether transfers are included, and a budget range for the whole group.

Sign in to start the application
Selecting a package hands you to sign-in: email, Apple, Facebook or Google. Everything up to this point is open, so you can price and compare a whole trip before creating anything. From here you enter traveller and passport details for the visa application and pay.
An account is required to save and submit the application.
Payment is not all-or-nothing. Wego accepts various payment methods, including instalments through Tabby, whose deferred-payment product carries Shariah approval, so spreading the cost of Umrah does not mean an interest-bearing loan.
One practical note: prices are shown in your own currency, because the site geo-routes you to your local Wego.
What it costs
Prices are quoted per person, and the date picker prices whole months, so the cheapest departure inside a month is easy to find without guessing at it.
Four things moved the price in our sample searches, and they are worth knowing before you touch a filter.
What actually drives the price
- Trip length. The single biggest driver, so compare like for like before you compare anything else.
- Distance to Al-Haram. Moving from a hotel 2.2 km out to one 644 m from the Haram roughly doubled the per-person price on the same three nights.
- Transport. Adding a private car added the same fixed amount to both tiers we priced, so it costs no more on a luxury package than on a premium one.
- Departure date. The 1st of the month priced cheapest in both months we sampled, and the floor rose as the season went on and inventory thinned.
If walking distance to the Haram matters to you, filter on distance before anything else and let trip length absorb the difference.
When you can go, and when Umrah closes
Umrah runs almost year-round but stops for the Hajj season.
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah publishes hard dates each year, and for the current 1448 AH season, which runs from 31 May 2026 to 7 April 2027, they are these.

Reopens 1449 AH Umrah season begins
The closure follows the lunar calendar, so the Gregorian dates shift roughly 11 days earlier each year.
The reopening date is derived from the official Umm al-Qura calendar rather than published directly, so treat it as approximate until the Ministry confirms it.
Practical read: if you want Ramadan 2027, that window opens 8 February and it is the single most contested period of the year.
If you want a quiet, cheap Umrah, the months either side of Ramadan are where the value sits.
What you need before you book
The visa: you probably already qualify
Since October 2025 the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has confirmed that holders of all visa types may perform Umrah while in the Kingdom, including tourist eVisas, personal and family visit visas, transit visas and work visas.
You no longer need a dedicated Umrah visa to perform Umrah.
The Saudi tourist eVisa is open to nationals of 66 eligible countries. It is valid for one year from issue, allows multiple entries, and permits a maximum stay of 90 days. It cannot be extended.
Saudi Arabia also introduced a multiple-entry Umrah visa valid 365 days with a cumulative stay of up to 90 days, though each visit under it requires a package from an approved provider on Nusuk, plus an Umrah permit issued through Nusuk before you arrive.
The older dedicated Umrah visa still exists and still cannot be issued without a package covering accommodation and transport, at a stated fee of SAR 300. Mandatory medical insurance is issued alongside it and usually adds roughly SAR 100 to 180 on top, so SAR 300 is not the whole bill.
Whichever route applies, issuance is a decision for the Saudi authorities, not for Wego or any agent; every package listing says the visa is subject to approval.
The vaccination nobody mentions
Saudi Arabia’s health authorities require meningococcal vaccination of every person intending to perform Umrah, from every country, given at least 10 days before arrival.
Polio vaccination is required additionally for arrivals from a defined list of countries that includes Pakistan, Afghanistan, Indonesia and much of sub-Saharan Africa. Yellow fever applies from listed African and South American countries.
COVID-19 vaccination is required, not merely recommended, for defined higher-risk groups: anyone over 65, pregnant women, and people with chronic heart, respiratory or kidney disease, sickle cell anaemia or thalassaemia, immunodeficiency, cancer or a chronic neurological condition.
Check the current requirements before you fly, because they change: the document in force covers 1447H (2026), and a 1448H version will supersede it for 2027 travel.
Permits are separate from your booking
Booking a package does not get you into the Grand Mosque to perform Umrah. You need an Umrah permit issued through the Nusuk app, the Ministry’s own platform, and only one can be active at a time.
The Ministry’s guidance says tawaf on the first floor is allowed without a permit, and no booking is needed simply to pray. In practice the gates scan Nusuk permits, so permit-free entry is discretionary and off-peak only, tighter again during Ramadan.
If your package includes Madinah, praying in the Rawdah needs its own Nusuk permit, for ages five and up, and each person can book only one Rawdah visit every 365 days. Visiting the Prophet’s grave or praying elsewhere in the mosque needs no booking.
Women can travel without a mahram
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah states plainly in its own guidance that a woman is allowed to come and perform Umrah without a mahram. This was announced in 2022 and remains current.
Common questions
Is the visa guaranteed once I pay for a package?
No. Every listing states that the visa is subject to approval, and issuance rests with the Saudi authorities. Read the cancellation terms before you pay.
Do I still need the Nusuk app if I booked a full package?
Yes. Your Umrah permit for the Grand Mosque, and any Rawdah booking in Madinah, are issued through Nusuk, separately from your travel booking.
When is the cheapest time to go?
The 1st of the month priced cheapest in the months we sampled, and the shoulder months either side of Ramadan are the best value overall. Ramadan itself is the most expensive and most crowded window of the year.
Can I stay in Madinah as well as Makkah?
Yes. Filter for nights in Madinah and the results rebuild as two-city itineraries.
The honest caveats
Three things worth saying plainly
- Prices are estimates and they move; a listing shows an estimated price, and the confirmed price appears only once you open a specific departure date.
- The visa is not sold, it is applied for. Wego files the application and the Kingdom decides.
- Wego announced a partnership with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in June 2026 covering the digital Umrah experience; visa issuance remains with the relevant Saudi authorities, and the Ministry’s role is regulatory and supervisory.
