Citizens of Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain can enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without a visa from 1 June to 30 September, staying for up to 30 days per trip.
The rule is now an annual seasonal waiver adopted by Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Council of Ministers, designed to apply every summer unless the government changes it.
Who can enter Bosnia visa-free this summer
The waiver applies to ordinary passport holders from Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain travelling for tourism or short visits.
You can stay in Bosnia for up to 30 days on a single trip, provided you enter between 1 June and 30 September.
What you need at the border
Make sure your passport is valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure date from Bosnia, and has at least one blank page for entry stamps.
Border officers can ask for a few standard documents, so keep these ready in your carry-on:
- A valid ordinary passport (not a travel document or temporary passport)
- A return or onward ticket
- A hotel booking or the address where you’ll be staying, book in advance on Wego hotels
- Proof of sufficient funds for your stay
- Travel or health insurance valid in Bosnia
These are the same basic checks the Bosnia Ministry of Security applies to all foreign visitors, regardless of nationality.
If you’re staying three or more days with relatives or in a private home, the host is legally required to register you within 48 hours of arrival. Hotels and licensed rentals do this for you automatically.
Where to go once you’re in
Most summer itineraries start in Sarajevo, Bosnia’s capital, whose Old Town (Baščaršija) is a 15th-century bazaar of coppersmiths, mosques, and cafés.
From there, the classic next stop is Mostar, about a two-hour drive south, famous for its Ottoman-era Old Bridge over the turquoise Neretva River.
Day-trippers from Mostar often add the Kravice Waterfalls and the pilgrimage town of Međugorje, both within an hour’s drive.
For an active summer, the town of Konjic is a popular base for white-water rafting on the Neretva, with trips starting around €45 per person.
