For UAE residents looking forward to visiting Bosnia, here is everything you need to know about the process and requirements of a Bosnia visa.
Do UAE residents need a visa to visit Bosnia?
UAE residents who hold a UAE passport do not require a visa to enter, exit or travel through Bosnia, provided they are visiting for not more than 90 days within 180 days, from the day of entry into the country. However, UAE residents who hold passports from other countries (alien residents) must apply for a relevant Bosnian visa to be eligible for entry into the country.

Bosnia visa for UAE residents
A Bosnia visa allows UAE residents who are not nationals of the UAE to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina for a specific period of time. The visa requirements and application process depend on the nationality of the UAE resident.
General requirements
UAE residents who hold passports from other countries (alien residents) must complete an interview at the Embassy of Bosnia & Herzegovina in Abu Dhabi and provide the following documents to apply for a Bosnian visa:
- valid passport of the applicant along with a copy
- one passport-size picture (35 x 45mm)
- completed and signed the visa application form
- copy of a valid residence permit for the United Arab Emirates (EID)
- copy of the round-trip ticket or itinerary
- travel insurance – mandatory standard insurance that covers the amount of USD 50,000 (AED 1,83,630)
Please note that some additional documents might be required by the embassy for different types of Bosnia visas.
Available visa types
Visa C (short-term visa)
The Bosnia visa type C is a short-term visa issued to foreign travelers who wish to visit Bosnia for up to 90 days within a period of 6 months. The Bosnia short-term visa can be issued for single or multiple entries.
UAE residents applying for a Bosnian short-stay visa will need to provide additional documents based on the purpose of their visit. The following documents are required:
Applicants travelling as a tourist:
- voucher of a travel agency (confirmation of paid accommodation, transport, medical/travel insurance) signed and stamped, hotel or other accommodation payment stating that trip has been paid in full
- NOC letter from the company or sponsor
- copy of bank statement from the last 3 months
- children below 18 years need to present a birth certificate
Applicants visiting friends and/or relatives:
- invitation letter from a Bosnia and Herzegovina citizen or resident (or exceptionally a foreigner with a permit to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina for one year or more) the applicant intends to visit, certified by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs
Applicants travelling for business purposes:
- letter from the employer stating the purpose of the trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina, or
- invitation letter from a company in Bosnia and Herzegovina, certified by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs
Applicants travelling for a sports contest:
- an official invitation to international competition from a national sport organization or Olympic Committee in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Applicants travelling for the judicial procedure:
- a court or other official invitation for a judicial procedure in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Applicants travelling for education:
- education admission certificate from Bosnia and Herzegovina Education Institution
Please note that for the short-term visa (visa C), applications must submit the documents in person to the Embassy at least 7 to 14 days prior to the departure. Make sure to contact the Embassy and check the visa processing time before submitting your documents.

The cost of a Bosnia visa C type is as follows:
- single entry – AED 245
- multiple entries – AED 245
Visa D (long-term visa)
The Bosnia visa type D is a multiple-entry long-term visa issued to foreign citizens, allowing them to stay in Bosnia for up to 180 days within a period of one year from the date of entry.
UAE residents applying for a Bosnian long-term visa (Visa D) will need to provide additional documents. The following documents are required:
- Invitation letter certified by the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs:
- for family reunification:
- invitation letter of a relative or a friend from Bosnia and Herzegovina certified by the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs
- for work:
- invitation letter from the company in Bosnia and Herzegovina certified by the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigners’ Affairs
- work permit issued by relevant authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The cost of a Bosnia visa D type is AED 380
Please note that for the long-term visa (visa D), applications must submit the documents in person to the Embassy at least 20-30 days prior to the departure.
