Yacht owners in Dubai may soon benefit from the UAE’s prestigious Golden Visa scheme, offering long-term residency and exclusive privileges, Wego reports. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) confirmed the initiative but has yet to reveal full details on eligibility and requirements.

More information will be unveiled at the Dubai International Boat Show 2025, scheduled from 19 February to 23 February. Now in its 31st edition, the event has evolved into one of the most significant maritime gatherings in the region, showcasing cutting-edge yachts, marine technology, and luxury lifestyle offerings. The GDRFA has invited attendees to visit its booth for insights into the new visa program and how it could impact yacht ownership in Dubai.

The Golden Visa initiative is a strategic move to boost Dubai’s status as a global yachting hub, providing yacht owners with long-term security and access to business and investment opportunities. In addition to residency, the UAE’s Golden Visa allows holders to stay outside the country for more than six months, offers a decade-long renewal period, and extends sponsorship privileges to family members.

This announcement follows Abu Dhabi’s similar move to the Abu Dhabi Golden Quay initiative last year, which positioned the emirate as an attractive destination for superyacht owners and maritime investors. With Dubai’s dynamic marine sector and luxury lifestyle appeal, the upcoming boat show is expected to offer a deeper understanding of how the Golden Visa will further elevate the city’s yachting industry.
