Egypt’s single-entry tourist visa is expected to rise from $30 to $33 on January 1, 2027, after the government raised a fixed fee built into every entry and transit visa from $12 to $15. The $33 figure comes from a circular issued by the Egyptian Travel Agents Association (ETAA), VisasNews reports.
The government has not yet published new visa prices for travelers. Egypt’s official e-Visa platform still lists $30 for a single entry and $65 for multiple entries, according to the Middle East Observer.
What the Decree Changes
- The decree: Prime Ministerial Decree No. 2553 of 2026 sets the fee at $15, or its equivalent in foreign currency, from January 1, 2027.
- What it covers: entry and transit visas at Egypt’s ports of entry, and visas and consular services at Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad.
- What it replaces: the $12 fee in force since January 1, 2026, so the net increase is $3.
- Published: in the Official Gazette on August 30, 2026, Egypt Independent reports.
According to the ETAA circular, the $15 sits inside the visa price rather than being added on top of it, so a single-entry visa goes up by $3 to $33. The circular adds that up to $6 in service, issuance and banking fees may apply.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Egypt visa going up to $45?
Not according to the travel agents’ circular. Some early reports added the full $15 to the $30 price, but the circular says the $15 replaces a $12 fee that was already inside the price, putting the single-entry visa at $33.
Has the Egyptian government confirmed the $33 price?
Not yet. The decree sets only the $15 fee. The $33 figure comes from the ETAA circular, and the official e-Visa platform had not updated its prices as of late September 2026. Check visa2egypt.gov.eg before you apply.
Does the new fee apply at Egyptian embassies abroad?
Yes. The decree applies the $15 fee to visas and consular services handled by Egyptian embassies and consulates, as well as to visas issued at ports of entry.
Where can I use the digital visa on arrival?
Only at Cairo International Airport for now. Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor and other airports still issue the paper sticker, and the separate e-Visa system is not affected.
How much did the visa on arrival cost before March 2026?
$25. It rose to $30 on March 1, 2026, and travelers were given the $25 sticker plus a small extra sticker for the additional $5, VisasNews reported at the time.
My country is not on the e-Visa list. What should I do?
The portal only issues e-Visas to nationals of the 78 countries it lists. If yours is not listed, contact the Egyptian embassy or consulate where you live before you book, as the portal does not cover other nationalities.
