Emirates student baggage allowance at a glance
Emirates uses a weight-based system on most routes, so you can check any number of bags within your total limit. The student offer adds 10 kg on top of the standard allowance for Economy, Premium Economy and Business fares.
The same offer also discounts the fare: up to 10% off Economy and 5% off Premium Economy and Business Class, excluding taxes and surcharges, on bookings made by 31 March 2027. First Class fares are not discounted.

The student discount applies to Economy, Premium Economy and Business fares, so a student fare is not offered in First. Standard checked weight can be higher on some routes (for example, 30 kg in Economy Saver on journeys from Australia and New Zealand), so treat these as typical figures. Your cabin bag can be up to 55 × 38 × 22 cm.
The USA and Canada exception
Flights to and from the USA and Canada use a piece-based system, usually two bags of 23 kg in Economy. The student extra-baggage perk does not apply on these routes.

Sports equipment, instruments and infant baggage
These items follow Emirates’ standard rules, which are separate from the student perk.
Sports equipment
- Sporting gear counts as part of your checked allowance, with total dimensions up to 300 cm.
- Give Emirates at least 24 hours notice if you are checking a bicycle.
Musical instruments
- Emirates does not offer a free allowance for instruments.
- Carry small instruments as cabin baggage, check larger ones within your allowance, or buy an extra seat.
Infants
Traveling with an infant adds one free checked bag of up to 10 kg on most routes, except the Americas and Africa. You also get a 5 kg cabin bag for infant items and a collapsible stroller.
