Direct Flights from Egypt to North America

EgyptAir is the only carrier with non-stops from Cairo to host countries, covering the US East Coast and Toronto, with new routes to Los Angeles (since 23 May 2026) and Chicago (from 21 June 2026).

There are no non-stop flights from Egypt to Mexico, and fans flying out of Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheikh will need to connect via Cairo or a hub airport.

One-Stop Routings: Gulf, Europe or the Americas?

For most fans — particularly those leaving from Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheikh — a one-stop routing opens up cities EgyptAir doesn’t serve non-stop and adds flexibility on dates.

Gulf hubs offer the widest US coverage from Cairo. European hubs — especially Istanbul — are the cleanest way to reach Mexico City direct. US-hub connections require a B1/B2 even for an airside transfer.

• Cairo → Chicago direct from 21 June (Chicago is not a host city, but ORD connects onward to host cities like Kansas City and Dallas), Mexico City → Cairo via Istanbul — covers late-stage US matches and Mexico group games.

Visa Requirement

Each host country has its own visa rules. A single authorisation does not cover all three.

• USA: Egyptian passport holders need a B1/B2 visitor visa applied for in person at the US Embassy in Cairo. As of 2026, the application costs the USD 185 MRV fee plus a USD 250 Visa Integrity Fee charged on issuance (USD 435 total). World Cup ticket holders should opt into FIFA PASS for priority appointment scheduling.
• Canada: Egyptians need a Temporary Resident Visa (visitor visa) — see Wego’s Canada Tourist Visa guide. Apply via IRCC and submit biometrics at a VFS centre in Cairo. The eTA is not available to Egyptian passport holders.
• Mexico: Egyptians need a Mexican visitor visa unless they hold a valid multiple-entry US, Canadian, UK, Schengen or Japanese visa — in which case no separate Mexico visa is required. A Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) is still required on arrival.
• UK transit: Egyptian passport holders need a Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV) for connections through London Heathrow or any other UK airport, even airside.
• Schengen transit: Egypt is not on the common EU Airport Transit Visa list, but several Schengen states — France in particular — require an ATV from Egyptian passport holders even for airside transit. Confirm the rule for your specific transit airport with the relevant consulate or your airline. A standard short-stay Schengen visa is only required if you leave the international transit zone.

Flight Booking Tips

With direct seats from Cairo limited and the tournament starting 11 June 2026, the booking window is closing fast.

1. Book now, not later. EgyptAir runs only a handful of weekly slots to each US gateway, and late-tournament dates around the 19 July final are already pricing well above EGP 90,000 in economy.
2. Stay flexible on date and gateway. Tuesday and Wednesday departures from Cairo tend to be the cheapest. Flying into Newark instead of JFK, or Washington Dulles instead of New York, often saves significantly with the same airline.
3. Use multi-city search. A Cairo → Mexico City open-jaw paired with a Toronto → Cairo return matches the tournament arc without an extra long-haul leg — see the open-jaw examples above.
