Kerala is the cheapest way into India from the Gulf. Wego’s live fare search puts all three Kerala airports below every Indian metro from Dubai. The cheapest nonstop to Kozhikode is USD 125. The cheapest nonstop to Delhi is USD 188.
Where you fly from matters as much as where you land. Kochi costs USD 118 nonstop from Abu Dhabi and USD 170 from Riyadh. Same airport, same day, 44 percent apart.
Two of the cheapest “Dubai” fares are not flights from Dubai. They start at XNB, Etihad’s coach terminal, and fly out of Abu Dhabi. Check the first leg before you book.
Flying between the Gulf and India is one of the busiest air travel markets in the world, and prices behave differently here than on a typical holiday route. Airlines based in six Gulf cities compete with India’s budget and full-service airlines, plus a few options that connect through Bahrain, Sharjah or Muscat.
The result is a fare map where the capital costs more than the coast, and where the cheapest number on the page frequently comes with six extra hours attached.
Below is what flights to India actually cost right now from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait and Riyadh, which airlines have the lowest price on each route, and when that lowest advertised price is not actually worth booking.

What the table shows
Kerala takes the three cheapest slots. Kozhikode, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram all price below every metro on the list.
Compare the fares that most people will actually fly, the nonstops: Kozhikode at USD 125 against Delhi at USD 188. Reaching the capital costs half as much again as reaching the Malabar coast, on a flight that is 25 minutes shorter.
Air India Express holds the cheap nonstop almost everywhere. It is the lowest nonstop fare to Kozhikode, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Hyderabad.
IndiGo takes Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. Between them these two airlines have the lowest fare on seven of the eight routes.
Bengaluru is the odd one out. Its cheapest fare is USD 154 routed through Bahrain over 12 hours 10 minutes, and no Bengaluru nonstop appeared among the cheapest fares at all.
There are fewer flights into Bengaluru from the Gulf than you might expect for a city its size, and the fares reflect that.
The XNB trap
Two of the fares above need a warning label. The USD 113 to Kozhikode and the USD 137 to Thiruvananthapuram both show up under a Dubai search, but neither one departs from Dubai International.
They leave from XNB, the airport code for Dubai Bus Station. Etihad’s road coach carries you to Abu Dhabi first, ticketed with an EY flight number, and the actual flight departs from there.
The saving is real — USD 12 against the Dubai nonstop to Kozhikode — but it costs time: 8h 25m door to door against 4h 10m in the air. Check the first leg’s departure point on the airline’s own site before you book.
The connection tax
On four of these eight routes the cheapest fare is a connection, and the trade is not always worth taking. Here is what the extra hours actually buy you.

Thiruvananthapuram: skip it
The connection saves one dollar and costs nearly four extra hours. Pay the USD 138 and fly the 4h 30m nonstop.
Hyderabad: probably skip it
Eight dollars for five and a half extra hours, and the routing backtracks through Mumbai. The USD 161 nonstop is 3h 40m.
Delhi: a real decision
USD 44 is a genuine saving, but the cheapest routing goes via Kochi and takes 9h 50m against a 3h 45m nonstop. That is roughly seven dollars an hour.
Kochi, Mumbai, Chennai: no trade-off
On these three the cheapest fare in the whole search is already the nonstop. Book it and stop looking.
Where you fly from changes the price more than you think
Kochi is the single busiest Gulf to Kerala destination, and it is served nonstop from every major Gulf hub. The fares are nowhere near each other.

Riyadh pays 44 percent more than Abu Dhabi to reach the same airport on the same day.
That gap is worth knowing if your dates are flexible and you can reach more than one of these cities to catch your flight. It also shows that there are simply more flights to Kerala from the UAE and Qatar than from Saudi Arabia, even though a large number of people from Kerala live and work in the Kingdom.
One more detail from the Riyadh search: the cheapest fare there is the nonstop.
The next option up is USD 194 routed through Sharjah over 15 hours 45 minutes — on this route the connection is worse on both price and time, which is unusual and makes the decision easy.
A note on what these numbers are. Every fare here is the lowest economy price Wego’s search returned for that exact route and date at the moment we sampled it.
Airfares on this route change daily, and the cheapest ticket type often comes with less free baggage than the airline advertises — confirm both the price and the baggage allowance on the airline’s own site before booking.
When to book
Two festivals push prices on this route up. Here is how to avoid paying more than you need to.
- Avoid flying right around Diwali (8 November 2026). Prices to every city in this article tend to jump in the last week of October and the first week of November, as people fly home for the festival. The 15 October date used for the fares above sits just before that rush starts, which is a big part of why those prices look reasonable.
- Flying to Kerala? Avoid 17 to 28 August 2026. That is when Onam, Kerala’s biggest festival, is celebrated, and fares to Kochi, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram climb sharply. The prices in this article will not hold during that window.
- Mid-October, like the dates used here, is a good time to book. It falls between both festival rushes, so if your travel dates are flexible, this is roughly when you can expect to find prices close to the ones in this article.
