Morocco’s 34,000 approved Hajj pilgrims for 2026 will fly to Jeddah and Madinah on Royal Air Maroc, Saudia, and flynas, departing from Casablanca, Rabat, and several other cities. With Hajj 2026 (1447 AH) expected between May 25 and 30, here is everything you need to know about flight schedules, airlines, costs, and the Makkah Route initiative.
Hajj 2026 dates and flight window
Hajj 2026 (1447 AH) is expected to begin on Monday, May 25, with the Day of Arafah on Tuesday, May 26, and Eid al-Adha on Wednesday, May 27. Final dates depend on the official moon sighting by Saudi authorities.
GACA flight operation timeframe
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has set the following window for Hajj 2026 flight operations:
- Outbound flights (arrivals to Saudi Arabia): April 18 to May 21, 2026
- Return flights (departures from Saudi Arabia): May 30 to June 30, 2026
During the first phase (April 18 – May 4), outbound flights operate primarily to Madinah, allowing pilgrims to visit Masjid al-Nabawi first. From May 5 onward, flights shift to Jeddah as the core Hajj rituals approach.
Airlines operating Hajj flights from Morocco
Royal Air Maroc is the primary carrier for Moroccan pilgrims, with Saudia and flynas also operating direct routes between Morocco and Saudi Arabia during Hajj season. Most Moroccan pilgrims travel through the government-organized program or accredited travel agencies, which include flights as part of the package.
Royal Air Maroc
Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco’s flag carrier, is the backbone of the country’s Hajj airlift. The airline operates flights from multiple Moroccan airports to both Jeddah and Madinah, including departures from:
- Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport — the main departure hub
- Rabat-Salé International Airport
- Tangier, Oujda, Fez, Marrakech, and Agadir
RAM has historically dedicated around 61,000 seats across roughly 100 flights for the Hajj season, using its widebody fleet — including Boeing 787 Dreamliners — and chartered aircraft to meet demand.
Saudia
Saudia, Saudi Arabia’s national carrier, is the largest global operator during Hajj season — mobilizing 160 aircraft and offering over one million seats across 145 destinations. Saudia operates direct flights from Casablanca to both Jeddah and Madinah year-round, with increased frequency during Hajj.
flynas
flynas, Saudi Arabia’s low-cost carrier, is transporting over 147,000 pilgrims from 18 countries during Hajj 2026 — including Morocco. The airline operates flights from Casablanca to Jeddah and has carried over 300,000 passengers between Saudi Arabia and Morocco since launching the route in 2023. flynas is also expanding services to Rabat.
Hajj costs and packages from Morocco
The official cost of Hajj for Moroccan pilgrims under the government program is MAD 63,021 (approximately $6,837), as announced by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. This is a decrease of MAD 3,000 ($324) compared to last season.
What the official cost covers
The MAD 63,021 includes the Hajj sacrifice fee (720 Saudi riyals / MAD 1,785), accommodation, ground transport, and support services. Pilgrims who initially paid the provisional deposit of MAD 65,000 will receive a refund of MAD 1,979 through Barid Bank.
Travel agency packages
Of Morocco’s 34,000 pilgrims, 11,800 travel through approved agencies, which may charge different rates depending on the level of accommodation and services. Check with your assigned agency for the exact breakdown. To compare flights to Jeddah or find hotels in Makkah, search on Wego.
How to register for Hajj from Morocco
Moroccan citizens cannot book a Hajj flight and travel independently — registration through the government system is mandatory. The process for the 1447 AH season is already closed, but here is how it works for future reference.
Registration process
Registration is conducted online through the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs website (habous.gov.ma). For the 2026 season, the registration window ran from January 13 to January 24.
Applicants choose between two tracks:
- The official government-supervised program (22,200 spots)
- Approved travel agencies (11,800 spots)
Eligibility requirements
- Moroccan citizenship, aged 18 or above
- Must not have performed Hajj in the past 10 years
- Senior citizens must register with a family member under 50 who is physically capable of assisting throughout the pilgrimage
Once selected, your operator handles the Hajj visa, flight booking, accommodation in Makkah and Madinah, and ground transportation.
The Makkah Route initiative
Around 17,000 Moroccan pilgrims — half the national contingent — will benefit from the Makkah Route initiative this season, operating through both Casablanca and Rabat airports.
How it works
Launched in 2017 as part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the initiative allows pilgrims to complete all travel formalities before leaving Morocco. A Saudi Interior Ministry mission stationed at the departure airport handles electronic visa verification, health screenings, police checks, and customs clearance.
Upon landing in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims bypass immigration counters entirely and are transferred directly to their accommodations in Makkah or Madinah. Luggage is coded, sorted, and delivered straight to pilgrims’ residences.
The first Makkah Route flight from Casablanca for the 2026 season was scheduled for May 7. Rabat-Salé Airport was added as a second gateway this year, expanding access for pilgrims outside the Casablanca region.
Health requirements and travel tips
Saudi Arabia’s Hajj health guidelines require all pilgrims to complete mandatory vaccinations before departure. The Meningococcal ACYW vaccine must be administered at least 10 days before arrival. For the full list of required and recommended vaccinations, see our dedicated Hajj vaccine requirements guide.
Practical tips for your journey

- Pack a first aid kit with hand sanitizer, masks, pain medication, moisturizing cream, and sunscreen.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes and stay hydrated — temperatures in Makkah can exceed 40°C during Hajj season.
