The single most important thing to check is which Amman airport your ticket uses. ADJ is a separate airport from Queen Alia International (AMM), roughly 30 to 35 km away by road, and several airlines have moved some or all of their Amman flights to it.

ADJ is open and handling scheduled passenger flights. Jordan’s airspace is open and the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission said on 2 September 2026 that air traffic to and from the Kingdom’s airports is continuing, with 28 airlines operating regularly.

Not every airline serving Amman uses ADJ, and some carriers split their Amman flying across both airports.

Worth knowing this month: Royal Jordanian’s ADJ leisure routes are a seasonal programme timetabled to end in the last days of September 2026. If you are booking for October onwards, check whether the route has been extended or has moved back to Queen Alia.

At the Airport
ADJ uses a single passenger terminal, with check-in, security, passport control, arrivals and baggage reclaim in one compact complex. Jazeera Airways recommends arriving at least three hours before an international departure. Follow your own airline’s guidance if it differs.
The airport is about 5 km from central Amman, so a taxi, private car or ride-hailing app is the practical way in and out. Allow extra time in peak traffic.
Connecting to Queen Alia
There is no airside connection between ADJ and Queen Alia. If your onward flight leaves from AMM, you must clear immigration, collect your bags, cross Amman by road, check in again and clear security. A visa may be required to enter Jordan to do this. Treat ADJ as a point to point airport and do not assume an airline will transfer your baggage or protect a separate booking at the other airport.
For an overnight stop between the two, compare hotels in Amman and pick a location that leaves enough road time for the transfer.
