JetBlue Airways is one of the biggest low-cost carriers in the United States, built around its New York JFK base and known for free Wi-Fi, generous economy legroom and its lie-flat Mint cabin on longer routes.

JetBlue fares right now
The fares below are the cheapest return economy prices for JetBlue-operated itineraries out of JFK, pulled from live searches on Wego for a 23 September 2026 departure returning 30 September, sampled on 12 August 2026 in US dollars. JFK is one of several JetBlue focus cities, used here because it is the largest.
One quirk worth flagging: the Fort Lauderdale connection at $203 undercut the cheapest fully nonstop fare on that same route, $207, in this sample. A one-stop itinerary is not automatically the pricier option. These are a dated snapshot and move by the hour, so check current JetBlue prices on Wego before booking.
Baggage allowance and fees
The carry-on policy is the same across every fare: one carry-on bag up to 22″ x 14″ x 9″ and one personal item up to 17″ x 13″ x 8″, with no fee.
Checked bags are where fares diverge, and JetBlue raised those fees on 31 March 2026, citing rising fuel costs. Checked on jetblue.com on 12 August 2026, the standard domestic, Caribbean, Latin America and Canada rates for travel booked more than 24 hours before departure, off-peak, are:
- Main Base, Main, Main Flex, EvenMore Base, EvenMore, EvenMore Flex: $39 for the first bag and $59 for the second.
- Mint and Mint Flex: both bags included, up to 70 lbs/32 kg each.
- Mosaic members, and JetBlue Plus, Business or Premier cardholders: first bag included, and for cardholders that extends to up to three travel companions on the same booking. Mosaic 2-4 gets the second bag included too.
- Third bag or more: a flat $200, addable only at check-in or the airport.
Peak-season travel, including Thanksgiving, the winter holidays and the busiest spring and summer weeks, adds $10 per bag. Adding a bag inside 24 hours of departure or at the airport adds another $10 on top.
Bags must stay under 62″ total dimensions and 50 lbs. Go over either limit and JetBlue charges $150 per category, with a hard cutoff at 80″ or 99 lbs. Paying online before check-in saves up to $10 per bag against paying at the airport.
Fares, cabins and what’s included
JetBlue restructured its booking flow in July 2026 into a two-step choice. First the onboard experience: Main, EvenMore, Mint, and BlueFirst, the new domestic first-class tier arriving later in 2026 on non-Mint aircraft. Then, within most of those, a fare option:
- Base: the lowest price, no seat selection, change and cancellation fees apply, and cancelling returns a credit minus a fee.
- Standard: free seat selection, no change fees, cancellation returns a full travel credit.
- Flex: full refundability to the original payment method, plus free same-day switches.
- Mint / Mint Flex: lie-flat seating, two free checked bags, early boarding, and on Mint Flex refunds to the original payment method.
Whichever fare you book, JetBlue’s 24-hour rule still applies: cancel within 24 hours of booking, for travel seven or more days out, with no fee.
Fleet and network
JetBlue flies an all-Airbus fleet: the original A320 and A321 “Classic” jets, restyled A320s, A321neos, the smaller A220, and the long-range A321LR and A321XLR used on transatlantic and Caribbean routes. The transatlantic layout carries 24 Mint suites against 16 on the domestic A321neo.
New York JFK is the primary hub, with Boston, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando as the other major focus cities, and San Juan and Los Angeles as key network anchors.
Two deals that used to define JetBlue’s strategy are no longer live. The proposed acquisition of Spirit Airlines was blocked by a federal court in January 2024 and formally abandoned soon after. The Northeast Alliance, a capacity-sharing tie-up with American Airlines around New York and Boston, was unwound following a 2023 antitrust ruling. JetBlue belongs to no global alliance.
In their place JetBlue has built “Blue Sky,” a commercial partnership with United that cleared US Department of Transportation review and is now running. Customers can book flights operated by either carrier directly on jetblue.com or united.com, and since 14 May 2026 eligible TrueBlue and MileagePlus members have received reciprocal benefits on both networks, including priority check-in, preferred seating, a free checked bag and same-day standby. It is distinct from a merger or from membership in a global alliance.
TrueBlue loyalty programme
TrueBlue is JetBlue’s frequent flyer programme, measured in points, with no blackout dates on JetBlue-operated award flights and no expiry on balances.
Status is measured in “tiles,” earned on qualifying spend with JetBlue, JetBlue Vacations and JetBlue credit cards. Ten tiles unlock a menu of Perks You Pick benefits, and 50 tiles land Mosaic status, which now runs four tiers (Mosaic 1 to 4) with escalating perks. Members can also pool points in a group of up to seven people, or top up a booking with a Cash + Points combination starting at 500 points.
Boarding, check-in and seat selection
JetBlue recently moved to numeric boarding groups, 1 through 8, to make gate calls easier to follow. Pre-boarding is reserved for customers with disabilities. Group 1 covers Mosaic 3-4 members and Mint passengers, Group 2 covers Mosaic 1-2 and EvenMore customers, and Groups 3 onward fill in by card status, fare and seat location. Unaccompanied minors board last.
Turn up late and you can still be denied boarding even holding a printed pass: the cutoff is 15 minutes before departure on domestic flights and 20 minutes on international ones.
Seat selection is free with Main, EvenMore and Mint fares. It is a paid add-on with any Base fare, though EvenMore Base does let you pick a seat at check-in if one is still open.
Changing or cancelling a booking, and contacting JetBlue
Changes and cancellations run through Manage Trips on jetblue.com or in the JetBlue app. Base fares carry a change and cancellation fee and any refund lands as travel credit. Main and EvenMore fares waive the change fee and return a full travel credit. Flex fares (Main Flex, EvenMore Flex, Mint Flex) refund to the original payment method any time before departure.
Travel credits are valid for 12 months from the original ticketing date. For anything the website cannot resolve, JetBlue’s main US reservations line is 1-800-JETBLUE (1-800-538-2583), and the airline also takes queries through the Help section of its app and via its social accounts.
Frequently asked questions
Does JetBlue have a first-class cabin?
BlueFirst, JetBlue’s first domestic first-class product, is arriving later in 2026 on the airline’s non-Mint aircraft. It has not launched yet.
Is JetBlue merging with Spirit Airlines?
No. That deal was blocked by a federal court in January 2024 and the two airlines called it off shortly after. Spirit itself stopped flying on 2 May 2026, and in July 2026 JetBlue bought 22 of its LaGuardia slots out of bankruptcy for $58.5 million.
Is JetBlue part of oneworld, SkyTeam or Star Alliance?
No. JetBlue is not a member of any global alliance. Its main partnership is “Blue Sky,” a commercial arrangement with United covering cross-booking and reciprocal elite perks, which is distinct from alliance membership.
How many free checked bags does JetBlue give you?
None on Main or EvenMore fares. Mint and Mint Flex include two free checked bags, each up to 70 lbs. Mosaic members and certain JetBlue cardholders also get bags included regardless of fare.
What happens if my JetBlue flight is delayed or cancelled?
