The emergence of the Omicron variant has yet again triggered safety concerns and other travel-related precautions in the UAE, which has now implemented stricter entry requirements with travel bans and restrictions. 

If you are looking to travel to the UAE from Kuwait, here are the latest flight news, travel requirements, airline schedules and airfare details that you should be aware of. 

Flights from Kuwait to the UAE

Emirates

Kuwait to UAE flight ticket price and schedule

Emirates flies only to Dubai from Kuwait and currently, there are at least two daily flights are available on all days of the week. Ticket prices start from KWD 68.

Flight duration

Emirates operates only direct flights from Kuwait and each flight takes upto 1 hour 45 minutes to reach Dubai. 

Etihad Airways

Kuwait to UAE flight ticket price and schedule

Etihad operates upto five daily flights- one direct and four connecting flights to Abu Dhabi from Kuwait. Airfares for direct flights start from 77 KWD for direct flights, whereas connecting flights may cost you from 410 KWD onwards.

Flight duration

Direct flights from Kuwait takes upto 1 hour 35 minutes to reach Dubai, whereas connecting flights all have long layover periods of over 8-10 hours in Bahrain and can take upto 14 hours. 

Kuwait Airways

Kuwait Airways offers at least three daily direct flights to Dubai from Kuwait, with tickets starting at KWD 57. 

The airline has one direct flight every day flying from Kuwait to Abu Dhabi, and the ticket prices start from KWD 88.

Direct flights to Dubai would take about 1 hour 45 minutes, whereas flights to Abu Dhabi are scheduled to last 1 hour 35 minutes. 

Gulf Air 

Kuwait to the UAE flight ticket price and schedule

Gulf Air operates upto five daily flights all week to Dubai, with ticket prices starting from KWD 47. All of these flights are connecting flights with a stopover in Bahrain. 

The airline flies at least one everyday flight, all connecting flights with a stopover at Bahrain, departing from Kuwait, flying to Abu Dhabi and airfares begins from KWD 56.

According to the layover time, the duration of these flights may vary from anywhere between 5 hours to 10 hours. 

Travelling from Kuwait to the UAE by road

Getting to the UAE from Kuwait, which is 1320 km away from each other, would take you approximately 12-13 hours on the road. Moreover, to get to the UAE, you will first have to drive through Saudi Arabia, which is the only route to reach the country via car and clear Saudi checkpoints and entry permits.

Considering the tedious documentation process and long travel duration, most people would prefer catching a flight over travelling via the road.

Kuwait to the UAE travel restrictions 

All Kuwaiti travellers must fulfil one of the below requirements:

  1. Present a valid vaccination certificate(s) reflecting that the passenger is fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the WHO or the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and includes a QR code
  2. Present a valid negative COVID‑19 PCR test certificate issued within 48 hours after the sample was collected and issued by an approved health service provider with a QR code
  3. Present a valid medical certificate with a QR code issued by the relevant authorities that the passenger has recovered from COVID‑19 within 1 month from the date of recovery to the date of arrival

Exemptions:

UAE nationals arriving from all countries to Dubai are not required to present any PCR or vaccination certificate, however there will be random PCR testing on arrival in Dubai.

Testing requirements

Please note that fully vaccinated passengers from Kuwait are no longer required to undergo a Covid-19 PCR test before arrival in the UAE.

Dubai

Individuals can fly between the two countries but will be subject to the following measures:

  • Pre-departure testing: Unvaccinated arrivals from India will have to present a valid negative COVID‑19 PCR test certificate issued within 48 hours from the time of sample collection and issued by an approved health service provider with a QR code.
  • Post-arrival testing: On entering Dubai, arrivals may be requested to undergo a PCR test on arrival in Dubai.

Abu Dhabi

Fully vaccinated arrivals from India travelling to Abu Dhabi are no longer required to undergo a test before they fly to Abu Dhabi.

However, if passengers are not fully vaccinated, they must present

  • A negative PCR test result taken within 48 hours, or
  • A COVID-19 recovery certificate. The recovery certificate must be dated within 30 days of departure and have a QR code. Children under 16 are exempt.

It is now no longer mandatory to take a PCR test upon arrival in Abu Dhabi International Airport. However, the testing facility remains at the airport for any visitors that wish to take a PCR test to activate their Green Pass in Al Hosn app and facilitate access to Abu Dhabi’s public places and tourist attractions. The cost of this PCR test is AED 40.

There is no need to re-test whilst in Abu Dhabi.

Quarantine requirements

All those who test positive for COVID-19 during their stay in the UAE must isolate themselves for 10 days.

Abu Dhabi residents are required to take two Covid-19 PCR tests separated by a gap of 24 hours to end their quarantine period.
