Lufthansa’s Current Operations (June 2026)

Lufthansa Group is operating the summer schedule through its six hubs, including Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Brussels, and Rome. The Group has said it is shifting capacity toward high-demand leisure and India routes while reducing unprofitable short-haul flying.

The Middle East operating environment remains volatile. EASA’s active Conflict Zone Information Bulletin 2026-03-R11, valid until 10 June 2026 unless reviewed earlier, advises operators not to fly in Iranian, Iraqi, and Lebanese airspace and to exercise caution in Bahrain, Kuwait, Israel, Jordan, Qatar, Oman, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

Reports on 2-3 June 2026 described renewed attacks affecting Kuwait and Bahrain, including a strike that briefly closed Kuwait International Airport. Lufthansa has not issued a new 5 June suspension list beyond its 2 June Middle East update, so passengers should rely on booking-level notifications and live flight status before traveling.

Lufthansa Group Summer 2026 Expansion: 1,600+ Extra Flights

The Group is adding around 1,600 flights across its hubs for summer 2026. The extra capacity is focused on destinations where demand is strong, especially Southern Europe and India.

How the Additional Flights Break Down

India Additions

India is the clearest long-haul winner. For summer 2026, the Group is adding:

• Frankfurt to Chennai (MAA) – 2 extra weekly flights (Lufthansa)
• Frankfurt to Delhi (DEL) – 2 extra weekly flights (Lufthansa)
• Frankfurt to Hyderabad (HYD) – 1 extra weekly flight (Lufthansa)
• Munich to Bangalore (BLR) – 1 extra weekly flight (Lufthansa)
• Zurich to Delhi – 7 extra weekly flights (SWISS)

Lufthansa’s 20,000-Flight Summer Cut

Lufthansa Group is removing 20,000 short-haul flights from its schedule through October 2026. The cuts are concentrated at Frankfurt and Munich and are tied to high fuel costs and unprofitable short-haul flying.

Group capacity is expected to fall by less than one percent in available seat kilometers. Long-haul connections are largely unaffected.

June 2026 Schedule: What’s Changed

The revised schedule for June was finalized and published in reservation systems on 29 April 2026. Lufthansa says the cancellations and automated rebookings have already been implemented in booking systems.

Routes that remain suspended from or to Frankfurt:

• Frankfurt – Bydgoszcz
• Frankfurt – Rzeszow
• Frankfurt – Stavanger

Routes canceled, discontinued, or rerouted from June onward:

• Frankfurt – Katowice
• Frankfurt – Newcastle, with Newcastle served via Eurowings from Berlin and Dusseldorf
• Frankfurt – Stuttgart, replaced by up to 15 daily Lufthansa Express Rail connections
• Frankfurt – Heringsdorf, rerouted via Zurich
• Frankfurt – Bordeaux, consolidated via Munich
• Frankfurt – Glasgow, rerouted via Zurich
• Frankfurt – Skopje, offered via Vienna

Munich – Gdansk is consolidated via Frankfurt, Munich – Sibiu via Vienna, and Frankfurt – Cork via Zurich. Lufthansa also says individual daily frequencies on high-frequency domestic German and European routes may be reduced in June.

Current Lufthansa Group Middle East Flight Offer

Lufthansa Group’s latest 2 June 2026 notice no longer describes Tel Aviv as fully suspended for all Group airlines. Austrian Airlines has started a gradual restart, Lufthansa plans Frankfurt-Tel Aviv flights from 1 July, and other Group carriers have later restart dates or pending updates.

What to Do If Your Lufthansa Flight Is Affected
