Last updated: Aug 6, 2026

Wego Travel Trends · Madinah

We looked at every hotel search on Wego over the last 30 days and ranked Madinah by pure demand — not by who paid us, not by who has the best PR. Then we pulled live rates on all ten. Here is where the city is actually going, and what it costs.

The short version

All ten, ranked by demand

Madinah does not have a low season so much as a held breath — a quiet summer month, and then the autumn Umrah rush arrives and takes it all back. Right now the searches say the rush is arriving early. Demand for Madinah hotels on Wego rose +112% from June 2026 to July 2026, and the ten properties below rode a big share of that wave — together up +105%.

The list below is where that demand is actually going. For Madinah we have ranked it by search interest and then measured every hotel a second way — by the walk to Al-Masjid an-Nabawi — because in this city proximity to the Haram decides a booking as often as price does. It is a list worth reading closely before you book anything — however you are flying into Madinah.

How this list was built. Every hotel here earned its place through demand, not placement. We ranked Madinah properties by search demand from real Wego travellers over the 30 days to 4 August 2026, then compared full-month July against full-month June to see which way demand was moving. Live nightly rates were pulled from Wego on 5 August 2026 for a sample stay, Fri 11 – Sun 13 Sep 2026, two adults sharing one room, taxes included.

The proximity board

How close each one really is to the Prophet’s Mosque

In Madinah, the walk to Al-Masjid an-Nabawi decides a booking as much as the nightly rate does. Here is every hotel on the list ranked by distance to the mosque, closest first — the same ten properties, seen through the one lens that matters most to pilgrims.

The one everybody wants

Zamzam Pullman Madina

Hotel ·Central Area ·8.6/10 · 28,922 reviews ·354 m to Masjid Nabawi ·~4 min walk

Zamzam Pullman in Madinah

The most-clicked hotel in Madinah is also the closest thing on this list to the mosque door.

Zamzam Pullman sits about 354 metres from Al-Masjid an-Nabawi — a four-minute walk — and it is the single most in-demand hotel in the city, with demand up 231% from June to July as the autumn Umrah season builds. Almost 29,000 guests have scored it 8.6, which is rare agreement at that volume. At $126 a night for our sample stay it is running roughly 15% below the $148 travellers have paid here on average over the last month, so the surge in interest has not yet pushed the rate up. It is an Accor property, so the spa, gym and dining are what the badge implies.

The name everyone knows

Anwar Al Madinah Movenpick Hotel

Hotel ·Central Area ·7.3/10 · 29,074 reviews ·540 m to Masjid Nabawi ·~7 min walk

Anwar Movenpick in Madinah

The most-reviewed hotel on the list, and the one most pilgrims already know by name.

Anwar Al Madinah Movenpick is the second most in-demand hotel in the city and the most-reviewed on this list, with just over 29,000 guest ratings. It stands about 540 metres from the mosque, a seven-minute walk, and interest rose 60% from June to July. The 7.3 guest score is the softest of the big central hotels here — the scale and the crowds show up in the reviews — but $153 for our sample stay is roughly 12% under its own 30-day average, and the rate bundles an airport shuttle, valet parking and a full spa.

Five stars, on sale

Sofitel Shahd Al Madinah

Hotel ·Central Area ·8.8/10 · 17,265 reviews ·522 m to Masjid Nabawi ·~7 min walk

Sofitel Shahd in Madinah

The five-star option that, for once, is asking less than usual.

Sofitel Shahd is the highest-rated large hotel near the Haram, 8.8 across more than 17,000 reviews, and it is the priciest room on the list at $230 a night. Even so, that is about 21% below the $290 travellers have paid here on average lately — the clearest discount to its own norm of any hotel here. It is roughly 522 metres from the mosque, a seven-minute walk, with a pool, spa and the full Sofitel service, and demand climbed 64% month on month.

Rising fast, farther out

Afaq Taiba Hotel

Hotel ·Al Fath ·8.0/10 · 1,175 reviews ·2.44 km to Masjid Nabawi ·~30 min walk

Afaq Taiba in Madinah

One of the fastest-rising names in the city — and a reminder that cheap and close are not the same thing.

Afaq Taiba is the fourth most in-demand hotel in Madinah and one of the fastest-rising anywhere on this list, up 247% from June to July. It is also the clearest illustration of the proximity trade-off: at about 2.4 kilometres from the mosque it is a half-hour walk out in the Al Fath district, not a stroll to dawn prayer. The 8.0 score across 1,175 reviews is solid for the price band. The catch is the rate — $69 for our sample stay sits well above the $28 a night it has averaged over the last 30 days, as peak-season pricing arrives early.

Hotel ·Bani Dhafar ·7.4/10 · 862 reviews ·2.32 km to Masjid Nabawi ·~29 min walk

Afaq Al Masi in Madinah

A budget favourite that has quietly climbed the demand table.

Afaq Al Masi — recently rebranded from Al Sumou — is the fifth most in-demand hotel in the city, with demand up 73% month on month. Like its Afaq stablemate it trades proximity for price: it is about 2.3 kilometres from the mosque, close to a 29-minute walk, in the Bani Dhafar area. Guests rate it 7.4 across 862 reviews. At $65 for our sample stay it is priced well above its rock-bottom 30-day average of $24, so the value case rests on how far from the Haram you are willing to be.

Hotel ·Bani Abdul Ashal ·7.9/10 · 752 reviews ·3.07 km to Masjid Nabawi ·~38 min walk

Abraj Almarzam is the seventh most in-demand hotel in Madinah despite being the farthest from the Haram on this list, just over three kilometres out in Bani Abdul Ashal — a 38-minute walk, which is why the hotel runs a shuttle. Demand grew a steadier 21% month on month, the calmest rise here. It scores 7.9 across 752 reviews and includes free cancellation. At $79 for our sample stay it is about 49% above its recent $53 average, so book it for the price and the flexibility rather than the location.

Book the trend

In Madinah, the shortest walk is the first thing to sell out.

Demand is climbing across the city and the rooms closest to the Haram are where it lands first, so the real calculation here is distance against price against how early you move. 8 of the ten hotels above are still under $200 a night for our sample stay, and 4 of them currently include free cancellation — so you can hold a room now and decide later.

Rankings reflect hotel search demand from Wego travellers in the 30 days to 4 August 2026; month-on-month figures compare full-month July 2026 with full-month June 2026. One property in the raw top ten, Taiba Front Hotel, had no availability for our sample stay; the next candidate by demand, Kingsgate Hotel Durrat, was passed over because its month-on-month figure sat on a very small June baseline, so the tenth place goes to Saja Al Madinah, the next most in-demand property with both bookable rates and a stable demand trend. Nightly rates were retrieved from Wego on 5 August 2026 for Fri 11 – Sun 13 Sep 2026, two adults, one room, taxes included, and will change with demand and availability. The “over/under” comparison on each card measures our sample stay against the average nightly rate travellers paid at that property across all stay dates in the previous 30 days. Guest scores and review counts are as shown on Wego at time of publication. Wego earns a commission on some bookings; this does not influence the ranking, which is generated from search demand alone.
