As of 20 July 2026, Phases 1 to 4 have reached their published start dates. The official schedule places Phase 5 on 21 July, although UTC Kangar in Perlis began issuing the new passport on 20 July ahead of that date.

The Immigration Department’s published schedule covers seven domestic phases through 3 August, followed by two overseas-attache phases in August. Check the phase assigned to your intended office before making a trip.

Who can choose a 10-year passport, and what does it cost?

• Age 18 to 59: RM200 for five years or RM350 for 10 years.
• Age 60 and above: RM100 for five years or RM175 for 10 years.
• Under 18: five years only; the fee is RM200, or RM100 for applicants under 12.
• Overseas undergraduates under 21 and Hajj pilgrims: five years only at RM100 under the listed categories.
• Adult OKU cardholders and Immigration staff: the table lists a separate 10-year, fee-exempt treatment.
• Diplomatic, official and dependent categories: validity may follow Foreign Ministry or principal-passport approval, with the published categories listed as fee-exempt.

How to apply or renew your Malaysia passport

For a renewal, the official MyOnline Passport service requires applicants to meet the conditions shown in the current portal. Its child-age wording is not fully consistent, and it says some child applications require counter handling, so check the live portal or your chosen Immigration office rather than relying on a single age threshold.

The service describes itself as an online renewal route, requires online payment and lets eligible applicants choose a listed collection office.

The published online conditions do not expressly confirm that every new 10-year choice can be completed online. If you want the new 10-year passport, confirm the route and availability with your selected phase office before paying or travelling there.

For a routine renewal

1. Confirm that your intended passport office has started its phase of the new-book rollout.
2. Use the official online renewal service if you are eligible, or apply through an Immigration office.
3. Use a current passport photo that meets the official requirements; the online service says AI-generated or AI-altered photos are rejected.
4. Keep your MyKad, current passport and payment receipt for collection. Applicants under 18 must attend collection with a parent or lawful guardian and the required documents.

For a first application, child application or a special case

The Immigration Department lists different supporting-document rules by category. A child’s application generally requires the child’s birth certificate and the attending parent or guardian’s identification, while a renewal requires the previous passport.

The official guidance says Malaysian citizens can apply at Immigration offices in Malaysia and Malaysian representative offices abroad. For the new-book rollout, however, use the published phase schedule rather than assuming every office has begun issuing it.

Do you need to replace your current passport?

No. Malaysia MADANI says holders of a valid existing passport do not need to hurry to exchange it, and the current passport can continue to be used until it is nearing expiry.
