UAE has witnessed the heaviest rainfall since 1949, which started with a thunderstorm on Monday, 15 April 2024. As per Wego’s reports, a significant downpour has occurred in the last three days, disrupting the various cities of UAE with waterlogging, which has affected residents in many ways, including public transport and flight travel. 

Several MENA airlines have been battling this unfortunate incident with flight cancellations, refunds and rescheduling.

UAE

Emirates

Emirates Airlines recently announced in an ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) post that check-ins were opened for customers departing Dubai if they had a confirmed flight.

 

Travelers who are affected by flight cancellations are requested to contact their booking agent or raise a query with Emirates’ support team. Alternatively, passengers can also check flight status to be aware of the latest scheduling.

Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways has made no public announcement regarding the current scenario. However, travelers impacted by the floods can contact Etihad Airways directly by dropping a text on their ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) account, as they are spontaneously responding to concerns.

Alternatively, travelers may also contact the support team on their website to raise queries.

Air Arabia

Air Arabia has made many travel updates on their ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) account. 

According to the airlines, flights canceled on 16 and 17 April due to the weather conditions in UAE:

  • passengers with canceled flight bookings will receive a full credit voucher for the amount paid. The credit voucher can be used for future flight bookings.
  • passengers can also have the option of a full cash refund.
  • passengers who booked through travel agents must contact them in case of refund requests or rebooking options.

Alternatively, travelers can also contact their customer support team through the Air Arabia website or the call center at 600508001.

Wizz Air

Wizz Air has made no public announcements regarding refunds and reschedules following the Dubai flight disruptions.

Travelers can, however, access Wizz Air’s customer support team through the Wizz Air website. The website provides all the details regarding cancellations and refunds, and more.

Air Astana

Air Astana has not yet made any public announcements regarding refunds and reschedules following the Dubai flight disruptions. Travelers affected by the situation, however, can contact them via DM at their ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) account or through their website.

Alternatively, travelers can also contact customer service for any queries related to refunds and rescheduling flights.

Saudi Arabia

Saudia

Travelers in Saudia affected by the Dubai flight disruptions can contact the airlines by sending them a DM at their ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) account or through their website.

Flynas

Flynas has not yet made any official announcement about the current incident. However, affected travelers can contact the airlines through their website or send them a DM at their ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) account.

Flyadeal has also not made any official announcements reporting the Dubai flight disruptions. However, affected travelers can contact the airlines via a DM at their ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) account. 

Kuwait

Kuwait Airways

Kuwait Airways has announced the rescheduling of certain flights in their recent X’ (formerly known as Twitter) post:

  • flight No.KU675 from Kuwait has been rescheduled, and passengers have been transferred to flight no KU677.
  • flight No. KU676, coming from Dubai, has been rescheduled, and passengers have been transferred to flight no KU674. Travelers will be contacted via SMS.
  • passengers can contact the Customer Service Center (171).

 

Jazeera Airways

Jazeera Airways reported the cancelation of several flights, and the airline has also asked travelers to contact customer service for further assistance via their X’ (formerly known as Twitter) post.

Qatar

Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways has not yet made any announcements addressing the Dubai flight disruption situation. However, travelers can contact the airline authorities by sending a DM to their X’ (formerly known as Twitter) account. Passengers can also get assistance through the dedicated Qatar Airways website.

Qatar Airways’ customer service contact number differs from country to country. However, passengers can get their respective countries’ customer service numbers on Qatar Airways’ official website.

Oman

Oman Air

Oman Air is providing assistance to passengers through their customer service offices. Similar to Qatar Airways, their contact numbers differ with each country, which can be found on their official website.

Bahrain

Gulf Air

Gulf Air has also made no announcements addressing the current situation.

Passengers can, however, contact the service centers for more information about rebooking and refunding flight tickets. The contact numbers for various cities can be found on the official Gulf Air website. Bahrain’s Customer service contact number is (+973) 1737 3737.

Egypt

EgyptAir

EgyptAir reported recently through their ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) post that due to the bad weather conditions in Dubai, which resulted in the cessation of air traffic, the national carrier announced a temporary cessation of its flights between Cairo and Dubai and vice versa until the weather conditions improve.

Jordan

Royal Jordanian Airlines

Royal Jordanian Airlines, Jordan’s national airline, recently canceled flights RJ614/5 and RJ612/3 scheduled for 16 April 2024 due to adverse weather conditions in the UAE. The announcement was made via their ‘X’ account (formerly known as Twitter).

The flight carrier further requested passengers to check their flight status through the Royal Jordanian official website or app (Android, iOS).
