Noida International Airport at Jewar began commercial flights on 15 June 2026, giving Delhi NCR its second major airport after Delhi.

What’s Now Open
The first commercial flight, an IndiGo service from Lucknow, landed on the morning of 15 June 2026. It then operated the airport’s first outbound flight to Bengaluru.
The opening follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s formal inauguration of Phase 1 on 28 March 2026.
The airport’s official three-letter code is DXN. It is operated by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Switzerland’s Zurich Airport International.
Phase 1 has one runway and one passenger terminal, able to handle around 12 million passengers a year. The terminal received its security clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security before opening.
Airlines and Routes
Three carriers are confirmed for the first phase: IndiGo, Akasa Air and Air India Express.
IndiGo launched the airport on 15 June and is building towards more than 16 domestic destinations. Routes confirmed so far include:

Akasa Air began daily flights on 16 June 2026, connecting Jewar with Bengaluru and Navi Mumbai. From 1 July 2026, Akasa adds Srinagar, Jodhpur, Bhopal and Dehradun.
More cities and frequencies are being added through 2026 as the carriers scale up.
Location and Getting There
The airport sits at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, southeast of the main NCR built-up area and reached via the Yamuna Expressway.
It is built to ease pressure on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and to serve western Uttar Pradesh directly.
Two transit links are in the works:
- Metro: a planned line will connect the airport towards Greater Noida and onward to central Delhi.
- Expressway: a dedicated road corridor is being built to link the airport with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway via Faridabad.
Until these open, road remains the main way in. Allow extra travel time if you are connecting from central Delhi.
What’s Next
International flights are targeted for around September-October 2026, with the Phase 1 carriers expected to operate them.
As of June 2026, no airline has filed a firm international schedule from DXN, so treat the timeline as a target rather than a confirmed date.
Over the longer term, the airport is designed to expand to roughly 70 million passengers a year across additional runways and terminals.
