Filipino travellers to Oman no longer need a negative HIV medical certificate, according to a notice from the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

What changed for Filipino travellers?
The specific update is the HIV certificate waiver.
The DFA notice says the negative HIV medical certificate requirement for Filipino travellers to Oman has been waived.
Travellers should still prepare their standard Oman entry documents for their purpose of entry.
When was the HIV certificate required?
Oman introduced the negative HIV medical certificate requirement on 1 March 2026.
It applied only to Filipino tourists entering under Oman’s 14-day visa-free facility. Filipinos holding work visas were not covered.
The rule applied to adults, while children were exempt.
Affected travellers had to present a negative HIV certificate from an accredited clinic or medical centre at the airline check-in counter before departing the Philippines.
The DFA made strong representations to the Embassy of Oman in Manila in April 2026 seeking the rule’s removal for all Filipino travellers. Oman placed the requirement under review, and it has since been waived per the DFA notice.
Are other medical tests still required?
For short tourist visits, Oman’s public entry-visa guidance does not list routine medical tests.
The Foreign Ministry’s entry-visa page instead lists a passport valid for at least six months, a return ticket, a confirmed hotel reservation, health insurance and sufficient funds for the 14-day visa-free facility.
Work and residence cases are different.
Oman’s Ministry of Health lists Medical Fitness Examination services, including pre-arrival medical report attestation and post-arrival medical fitness exams for workers.
- Pre-arrival medical report attestation is used to obtain a visa before arriving in Oman, with listed fees of OMR 2 for Wafid eReport holders and OMR 5 for Oman-issued reports for change to work visa.
- Post-arrival medical fitness exam forms are used for workers completing procedures for residency cards, visas or citizenship.
- The post-arrival service lists an ID card and passport as required documents, with fees of OMR 30 for non-food handlers and OMR 40 for food handlers.
The public MOH service pages do not name every lab test in the exam panel.
Applicants should follow the medical center’s instructions and use official Medical Fitness Centers or licensed centers linked through the MOH eHealth Portal.
