Oxagon is NEOM’s economic and industrial engine, driving innovation in industry and technology whilst offering exceptional livability.

As stated by the Crown Prince and Chairman of the NEOM Company Board of Directors, Mohammed bin Salman, the Oxagon will also contribute to Saudi Arabia’s regional trade and commerce and support creating a new focal point for global trade flows.

The city is designed to attract global talent and breathe new life into manufacturing. With a next-gen automated & integrated port and supply chain fostering an ecosystem for research and innovation, the city will act as a catalyst for advanced transformational industries and a global gateway for world trade.

Oxagon NEOM location

Being constructed as the future of advanced and clean industries, the Oxagon will essentially be situated on the Red Sea coast, enabled by an automated port that integrates a smart supply chain network, with around 13 percent of global trade passing through the Suez Canal.

Moreover, the city also expects to incorporate a population of 90,000 and offer around 70, 000 jobs by the year 2030.

What is the Oxagon Hackathon?

The Oxagon Hackathon is a 3-day challenge, in partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education and powered by the local accelerator Blossom. The Hackathon will take place in Riyadh from 6 to 8 October 2022.

The Hackathon will mainly focus on four industries, reflecting some of NEOM’s industrial goals, including technology in the service of people, water innovation and sustainable solutions to address water scarcity challenges, renewable energy solutions, leveraging the country’s commitment to exploring clean energy alternatives such green hydrogen and e-fuels.

The applicants from the following categories can apply for the Oxagon Hackathon programme:

  • Males and females
  • Teams of two to six, aged 18-65
  • Saudi-based with a Saudi national as team leader
  • Programmers, developers, designers, students, academics, founders, marketers, entrepreneurs
  • Critical thinkers with big ideas

What is the Oxagon Accelerator?

Followed by the Hackathon, the Oxagon Accelerator will take place in Riyadh starting in November 2022. It is a 12-week programme that will provide the participants with the knowledge, resources, network and business resilience to develop and deliver their solutions from lab to market. The founders and visionaries with existing start-ups can apply for this programme.

Moreover, the Accelerator will offer expertise and technical knowledge from the Oxagon’s expert partners to help local start-ups convert their ideas into prospering businesses. The Accelerator is also most likely to attract more than 100 investors from across the Middle East and North Africa, thereby giving start-ups plenty of fundraising opportunities.
