Philippine Long Weekends 2026 and 2027

Not by default. On a special (non-working) day the “no work, no pay” principle applies unless a company policy, an established practice or a collective bargaining agreement grants payment. If you do work it, you get an extra 30 per cent of your basic wage for the first eight hours. A regular holiday is the opposite: you are paid 100 per cent of the day’s wage for not working it, provided you worked or were on paid leave the day before, and 200 per cent if you do work it.

Proclamation No. 1006 declares 12 regular holidays, counting Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha which are proclaimed separately, and 8 special non-working days. It also declares one special working day, the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary on 25 February, which is a commemoration and not a day off at all.

Christmas into New Year. Thursday 24 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027 is eleven consecutive days off for just two leave days, spent on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 December. It only works if you count Christmas Eve and the Last Day of the Year, which are special non-working days. On paid holidays alone the same two leave days give you six days, 25 to 30 December.

No. As of 26 August 2026 no proclamation for 2027 had been issued, so every 2027 date on this page is derived and marked provisional. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are the most reliable of them because they follow Easter, which falls on 28 March 2027. Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha are the least reliable: they are proclaimed separately once the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos recommends the dates, so we do not give a 2027 date for either.

Not automatically, and this is the single most misunderstood part of the calendar. RA 9492 does contain a rule moving several holidays to the Monday nearest their date, and moving a Sunday holiday to the following Monday. But the same section applies “unless otherwise modified by law, and or proclamation”, and recent proclamations have pinned holidays to their actual dates instead. In 2026, All Saints’ Day stayed on Sunday 1 November and the Palace declared Monday 2 November a separate additional special day rather than substituting it.

Comparing four-star and up hotels available both for Undas and for the identically shaped Bonifacio Day weekend four weeks later, the median difference across 97 rooms was zero, and 61 of them quoted exactly the same nightly price.
