Qantas Airways Flight Status (September 2026): Routes, Schedule, and Network Updates

Last updated: Sep 7, 2026

Qantas Airways is flying as of 7 September 2026, but Middle East airspace risk continues to affect some Europe routings.

Qantas says Perth–London flights are operating via Singapore for a fuel stop, while London–Perth continues to operate direct. Flights to Paris are currently originating in Sydney and operating via Singapore instead of Perth.

Qantas Current Operating Routes

Qantas is operating flights across six continents from its hubs in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. Here’s a breakdown of the international network by region.

Asia

Qantas connects Australia to key Asian cities including Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo (Narita), Tokyo (Haneda), Manila, Jakarta, Denpasar (Bali), and seasonal Delhi service from 26 October 2026. Perth–Singapore has increased from daily to 10 weekly flights, timed to connect with Qantas’ Singapore–Paris services.

Europe

European destinations currently served include London Heathrow, Rome (Fiumicino), and Paris (Charles de Gaulle). The current Middle East-related routing changes mainly affect Perth–London outbound and Paris services.

  • Perth–London: Operating via Singapore for a fuel stop due to adjusted flight paths; London–Perth continues direct.
  • Perth–Rome: Additional seasonal services have been extended through late October 2026.
  • Sydney–Paris: Originating in Sydney and operating via Singapore up to 24 October 2026, with three weekly services.

North America

Qantas serves several US destinations including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas Fort Worth, and New York (JFK). A new seasonal Sydney–Las Vegas nonstop launches on 29 December 2026.

Pacific & New Zealand

Trans-Tasman and Pacific services connect Australia to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown, Nadi (Fiji), Noumea, and Papeete. Gold Coast–Auckland and Sydney–Auckland–Apia are listed in Qantas’ current international network.

Africa

Qantas launched its Perth–Johannesburg direct service in December 2025, operating three times weekly.

Domestic Network

Within Australia, Qantas and QantasLink connect all state capitals and major regional cities. The most heavily served domestic routes are Sydney–Melbourne, Sydney–Brisbane, and Melbourne–Brisbane, with dozens of daily frequencies.

The Airbus A321XLR is now flying between Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth. The aircraft type on Brisbane–Manila is subject to schedule changes; an October A321XLR introduction should not be treated as confirmed.

How the Middle East Conflict Is Affecting Qantas Flights

Qantas’ international route page says Perth–London outbound services are operating via Singapore for a fuel stop, London–Perth remains direct, and Paris services are operating from Sydney via Singapore. Qantas has not announced a broader suspension of its own international or domestic network.

EASA’s Gulf bulletin 2026-07R2 remains valid through 30 September. Maritime routing restrictions and risk assessments can affect Gulf itineraries.

Qantas also lists Sydney-Bengaluru as suspended from 8 August to 24 October 2026. Its 6 September alert reports disruption to Jakarta flights QF39/40/41/42.

Qantas Network Updates and Schedule Changes

Qantas’ published Europe schedule retains three weekly Sydney-Singapore-Paris services through 24 October 2026. The timetable lists Singapore-Paris QF255 at 22:10 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and daily London-Perth QF10 at 11:55, arriving at 11:45 the next day; all times are local.

Route Previous Pattern Current / Updated Pattern Notes
Perth–London Daily nonstop Perth–London via Singapore; London–Perth direct Fuel stop due to adjusted flight paths
Perth–Rome Seasonal service Additional services extended to late October Qantas says Rome capacity is being extended for 2026
Sydney–Paris (via SIN) Sydney–Paris via Perth Sydney–Paris via Singapore up to 24 October 3 weekly; Singapore-Paris QF255 scheduled Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 22:10
Perth–Singapore Daily 10 weekly Timed for Singapore–Paris connections

Qantas also says additional Sydney–Vancouver frequency continues to 24 October 2026. From 27 July, minor frequency adjustments apply to routes including Darwin–Singapore, Brisbane–Manila, Sydney–Wellington, Melbourne–Auckland, and some domestic services.

Route Launches and New Destinations

Qantas has a packed schedule of new routes and fleet additions rolling out through the rest of 2026 and into 2027.

2026 Route and Aircraft Updates

Route Status / Launch Date Frequency Aircraft
Gold Coast–Auckland Listed in current network 3 weekly Boeing 737
Sydney–Apia (via Auckland) Listed in current network Alternate days with Brisbane–Samoa Boeing 737
Brisbane–Manila Aircraft change not confirmed Schedule varies by date Aircraft assignment subject to change
Sydney–Las Vegas 29 December 2026 3 weekly, seasonal Boeing 787-9

The Gold Coast–Auckland route makes Qantas the only airline offering Business class between the two cities. Combined with the new Sydney–Auckland–Apia service, Qantas will offer near-daily connectivity between Australia and Samoa.

The Sydney–Las Vegas route is scheduled as the first nonstop between Australia and Las Vegas. Flight QF55 is scheduled to depart Sydney at 9pm and arrive in Las Vegas at 3:55pm, with a journey time of just under 14 hours.

Project Sunrise: Sydney–London and Sydney–New York Nonstop

Qantas’ Project Sunrise remains scheduled around the Airbus A350-1000ULR. The first of 12 aircraft is scheduled for delivery in April 2027, with daily Sydney-London commercial services planned from October 2027, subject to certification and regulatory approvals.

The aircraft will have 238 seats, including six First suites, 52 Business suites, 40 Premium Economy seats, and 140 Economy seats. Qantas says the flights will reduce journey time by up to four hours compared with one-stop services.

Fleet Modernisation: Airbus A321XLR

Qantas’ A321XLRs are flying between Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth. Brisbane–Manila aircraft assignments remain subject to schedule changes. Qantas says 48 A321XLR aircraft are on order, including 16 with lie-flat Business seats to be delivered from calendar year 2028.
