New Year’s Day (1 January)
New Year’s Day, the beginning of the year, is a holiday across the globe and is also a gazetted holiday in Qatar. This falls on Wednesday, 1 January 2025. If you want to add some fun and begin your new year with a banger vacation, consider taking leave on Thursday, 2 January 2025. This complements Friday and Saturday, 3 and 4 January 2025, which are off days in Qatar.
If New Year’s Eve is also a holiday for you, that is, on Tuesday, 31 December 2024, you can extend your vacation even longer by taking leave on Sunday and Monday, 29 and 30 December 2024, giving you an entire week off!
National Sport Day, (11 February)
The Amiri Diwan has announced that National Sport Day, falling on Tuesday, 11 February 2025 (Shaaban 12, 1446 AH), will be a public holiday in Qatar. Enjoy the day off and make the most of this annual celebration of sports and wellness!
Eid al-Fitr (27 March to 5 April)
The holiest month of the year, Ramadan, is of paramount importance to all Muslims worldwide, and Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Ramadan fast. Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr in 2025, fell on Monday, 31 March 2025. The holiday was observed from Saturday, 29 March to Thursday, 3 April 2025.
You can take leave on Sunday, 30 March and Friday, 4 April 2025. Coupled with the public holidays on Friday, 28 March (weekend) and Saturday, 29 March (weekend), this paves the way for a super-long holiday spanning ten days from 28 March to 6 April 2025.
Eid al-Adha (6 to 14 June)
The Feast of Sacrifice is another significant Islamic event celebrating devotion to God and God’s benevolence. It is also a day of charity for Muslims. In 2025, Eid al-Adha fell on Friday, 6 June 2025, based on moon sightings during Dhul-Ḥijjah. The holiday was observed from Thursday, 5 June to Monday, 9 June 2025.
To extend the joy and turn it into a celebration, consider taking leave on Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 and 11 June 2025. Combined with the public holiday on Monday, 9 June and the weekend on Friday and Saturday, 13 and 14 June 2025, this gives you a nine-day break from 5 to 14 June 2025.
National Day (18 to 20 December)
The day of Qatar’s unification is celebrated annually on 18 December, and in 2025, it falls on a Thursday. This is just before the regular holidays on Friday and Saturday, 19 and 20 December 2025.
You can take a few more days before or after these three holidays to extend your vacation.
Qatar summer break
The summer vacation for schools across the country is expected to begin in early July. Between 6 July 2025 and 30 August 2025, you can easily plan a good vacation.
