Qatar offers various alternatives for obtaining a visa, providing several options for travelers from Pakistan. Typically, Pakistani travelers can enter Qatar without a visa for a specific duration. However, if they wish to stay for an extended period, they now have the opportunity to select from diverse visas, making the visa application process effortless.

Keep reading to find detailed information about the different types of Qatari visas, including family visit visas, business visas, work visas, and student visas, along with the necessary documents for each visa category.

Qatar visa for Pakistani latest news

The Ministry of Interior has updated regulations and procedures to simplify the process for residents’ families wishing to visit or live in the country. This effort aims to improve service quality in line with the state’s overall approach.

According to the latest information, applications for family visits must now be made through the Metrash2 app. Here are the general conditions for bringing a family:

  • sons should not exceed 25 years old
  • daughters must be unmarried
  • children between 6 and 18 years old must be enrolled in schooling within or outside the country
  • hosted expatriates must possess health insurance for their entire stay, starting from their entry date into the country

Government and semi-government workers must either receive family housing provided by their employer or have a minimum monthly salary of QAR 10,000, supported by an official employment contract.

Private sector employees, specifically those in technical or specialized roles (non-labor positions), need an employment contract and a minimum salary of QAR 10,000. Alternatively, they can have a salary of QAR 6,000 if the employer supplies family housing and supports an official employment contract.

Do Pakistanis need a visa to travel to Qatar?

Yes, they do. For Pakistani travelers planning to visit Qatar for a duration of up to 60 days, Qatar now grants a visa on arrival. If you wish to travel for more than 60 days or have other purposes for travel, Qatar also has other visas that you can get, as explained below.

Types of Qatar visa for Pakistanis

Visa on arrival

Pakistanis can obtain a Qatar visa on arrival for a duration of 30 days, with an option to extend their stay for an additional 30 days. Upon arrival, Pakistani citizens can proceed to the immigration counter, where they will need to fill out the application form and obtain the visa stamp on their passport.

Family visit visa

The Qatar family visit visa allows expatriate residents in Qatar to bring their immediate family members to Qatar for a short-term visit. Recently, the visa eligibility has expanded to include other relatives of the expatriates as well.

Business visa

Pakistani citizens traveling to Qatar for business purposes can apply for a business visa. The applicant’s company or agency typically arranges for this type of visa on their behalf. The business visa is initially valid for 30 days and can be extended for an additional 60 days.

Student visa

Pakistani citizens intending to study at a Qatar university can apply for a student visa. However, the issuance of the visa depends on the applicant’s residence permit.

Employment visa

Pakistani citizens seeking work or employment opportunities in Qatar can apply for a Qatar employment visa. To be eligible, the applicant must have a minimum of two years of employment, and the employer provides visa sponsorship.

Qatar visa for Pakistani requirements

The general requirements for Pakistani passport holders applying for a Qatari visa are as follows:

  • Pakistani passport: The passport must be valid for a minimum of six months.
  • passport copies: Two copies of the first page of the passport.
  • passport-size photos: Two colored passport-size photos of the applicant.
  • proof of hotel reservation/accommodation: Documentation showing proof of hotel reservation or accommodation in Qatar.
  • onward and return confirmed ticket: Proof of confirmed tickets for onward and return travel.
  • detailed itinerary: A scanned copy of the detailed itinerary for the planned duration of stay, including the applicant’s name mentioned on it.
  • bank statements: Scanned copies of the applicant’s bank statements for the previous three months, indicating the applicant as the account holder.
  • cover letter: A hand-written and duly signed cover letter addressed to the Embassy of Qatar. The letter should state the purpose of travel, the dates and cities of travel, and provide information about the place of accommodation. In the case of a minor applicant, the letter must be signed by their guardian.

Please note that additional documents might be required depending on the type of Qatar visa you applied for.

Visa on arrival

To avail visa on arrival in Qatar, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

  • passport must be valid for at least 6 months
  • return ticket must be confirmed
  • hotel bookings made on Discover Qatar for the duration of the stay
  • travellers coming directly from Pakistan should present a certificate of vaccination against polio
  • health insurance from one of the companies registered with the Qatar Ministry of Public Health
  • Pakistani citizens might also require the following:
    • proof of funds or a credit card is required to be eligible for the Qatar visa upon arrival. Make sure to carry an International Debit/Credit Card under your name with a minimum balance of QAR 5,000 (PKR 392,077)
    • a bank statement from the last three months might also be required to prove that the balance is equivalent to QAR 5,000 (PKR 392,077)

Family visit visa

In case you are applying for the family visit visa for your immediate family members (wife and children), the following documents will be necessary:

  • a copy of the applicant’s Qatar ID
  • a copy of the visitor’s passport
  • proof of Relation (birth certificate for children and notarized marriage certificate for wife)
  • no objection letter from employer citing profession and salary
  • work contract
  • photocopy of the company card
  • round-trip flight tickets
  • health insurance valid in Qatar

The minimum salary requirement to apply for a family visit visa in Qatar for children and spouses is QAR 5,000 (PKR 392,077).

For newborns, the documents required include the following:

  • original passport of the child
  • original birth certificate
  • photos
  • copy of the residence permit for the applicant and the mother’s visa

Please note that only married expatriates in Qatar can apply for a family visit visa to sponsor other relatives. In case you are applying for a family visit visa for other relatives, the following documents will be necessary:

  • a copy of the applicant’s Qatar ID
  • a copy of the visitor’s passport
  • wife’s Qatar ID copy (if she is a resident)
  • proof of relation (birth certificate, passport etc.)
  • no objection letter from employer citing profession and salary
  • photocopy of the company card
  • round trip flight tickets
  • health insurance valid in Qatar

Business visa

The following are some of the additional documents required to apply for the Qatar business visa:

  • applicants must apply for the visa application form (Form V1)
  • copy of the Qatari residence ID or permit
  • letter from the company mentioning the business purpose

Student visa

The following are some of the additional documents required to apply for the Qatar student visa:

  • applicants must apply for the Visa application form (Form V1)
  • a Qatari residence ID or permit
  • letter of admission from a recognised university
  • salary certificate from the local sponsor
  • educational documents, as required

Employment visa

The following are some of the additional documents required to apply for the Qatar employment visa:

  • applicants must apply for the visa application form (Form V1)
  • original and photocopy of the applicant’s Pakistani passport with a validity of at least 6 months
  • copy of the Qatari residence ID or permit
  • original and photocopy of educational qualification documents
  • letter from the employer
  • an original and photocopy of the employment contract provided by the firm, company or organization must be submitted by the applicant

How to apply for a Qatar visa for Pakistanis?

To apply for a Qatar visa as a Pakistani passport holder:

  • duly fill out the online application form on the official Qatar visa website
  • download and print the form, and make sure to personally sign the Qatar Visa Application Form
  • the form, along with the above-mentioned documents, should then be submitted at the nearest Embassy of Qatar
  • once submitted, the application can be tracked online from the Ministry of Interior Qatar website

Please note that the applicant can collect their passport once the visa process is completed. The visa usually gets approved in 7-10 working days.
