The High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB) announced that Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), has won the bid to host the United Nations World Data Forum 2026 in Riyadh, Wego reports.

GASTAT President Dr. Fahad Aldossari led Saudi Arabia’s bid presentation to the HLG-PCCB, showcasing the nation’s progress in statistical work, its experience in hosting international events, and its commitment to ensuring comprehensive logistical support for a successful forum.
The sixth edition of the United Nations World Data Forum will be held in 2026 in Riyadh, and around 22,000 participants from over 193 countries will attend. This Forum has been targeted to attract participants who are Data Scientists, International Organisations, Statistical Offices of UN Member States and individuals interested in Statistics.
GASTAT has also announced the Forum’s objectives, which are as follows:

- Facilitating Data Exchange between Official Statistical Agencies
