Royal Jordanian Flight Cancellation: What to Do If Your Flight Is Cancelled (2026 Guide)

Last updated: Sep 10, 2026

Jordan was hit by an Iranian missile attack on 9 September 2026, but Jordan’s airports and Royal Jordanian flights are operating.

Queen Alia International Airport’s live board on 10 September showed Royal Jordanian services operating to and from destinations including Baghdad, Beirut, Cairo, Dubai, Kuwait and Riyadh, while individual flights could still be delayed or cancelled. Check your own booking before travelling to the airport.

Which Royal Jordanian Routes Are Affected?

Royal Jordanian has not announced a network-wide cancellation. Its current passenger-support notice says Erbil service resumed on 26 July and Bahrain and Sulaymaniyah services resumed on 27 July. The same notice provides extra options for passengers whose tickets included those sectors and were affected by RJ cancellations.

Journey	Position on 10 September	What to do
Queen Alia and Jordanian airspace	The airport is operating; the live board shows active arrivals and departures after the 9 September attack.	Use the airport board and RJ booking record for the exact flight.
Erbil, Bahrain and Sulaymaniyah	RJ says scheduled operations resumed on 26–27 July.	Affected cancelled tickets may qualify for the current RJ support options.
Baghdad, Beirut, Cairo, Dubai, Kuwait and Riyadh	Specific RJ movements appeared on Queen Alia’s 10 September board; one listed Larnaca departure was cancelled.	Do not infer the status of another date or flight number from these examples.

EASA’s Jordan conflict-zone bulletin remains active through 30 September 2026 and notes risks from missile activity, air-defence activation and falling debris. This risk notice does not itself mean the airport is closed.

How to Check If Your Royal Jordanian Flight Is Cancelled

Check the flight number and date on Wego.
Open Royal Jordanian Manage Booking with the booking reference and surname.
Compare it with Queen Alia’s live board for an Amman flight.
Call Royal Jordanian on +962 6 510 0000 if the records do not agree.

Your Options: Refund, Rebook, or Reroute

For passengers affected by RJ cancellations involving Erbil, Bahrain or Sulaymaniyah, Royal Jordanian’s current notice permits a free change without fare difference for travel on or before 15 December 2026, a free reroute within the same IATA zone for travel by that date, a refundable voucher valid for one year, or a refund of the unused ticket portion.

Situation	Possible option	Condition
Covered cancelled sector	Free change, same-zone reroute, refundable voucher or unused-portion refund	Travel deadline and ticket eligibility in RJ’s notice apply.
RJ cancels another flight	Ask for the remedy available under the conditions of carriage and governing law.	Do not assume the route-specific waiver covers every itinerary.
You cancel an operating flight	Ticket fare rules apply unless RJ grants a waiver.	A regional security event does not create an automatic universal refund.

How to Get a Refund or Rebook

Keep the cancellation notice, booking reference and ticket number.
Use the correct channel: contact the travel agent for an agency booking, an RJ sales office for an office booking, RJ’s email form for a web/app booking, or [email protected] for a call-centre booking.
State the remedy requested and cite the affected sector if relying on the current travel-support notice.
Allow for the published processing time: RJ says refunds may take about 14–21 days and in some cases up to 30 days.
Escalate a Jordan complaint if needed: CARC lists +962 79 952 2502.

What to Do If You’re Stranded

Ask Royal Jordanian for rebooking or rerouting and written confirmation of the cancellation reason. Care duties depend on the route, governing law and cause. RJ’s customer-service plan says it provides one night’s hotel and ground transport when a cancellation or missed connection within RJ’s control creates an overnight stay; different rules may apply to events outside its control.

Keep boarding passes, messages and receipts. Do not buy a replacement flight until RJ confirms whether it will reroute you or reimburse a self-booked alternative.
