Oman’s low-cost airline, SalamAir, is all set to launch direct flights to five Indian destinations commencing December 2023. Wego reports that the selected destinations are the Indian cities of Hyderabad, Calicut, Jaipur, Trivandrum and Lucknow.

The development is poised to boost connectivity between the Gulf countries and the Indian subcontinent. The entrance into the Indian market has been facilitated by the backing of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Sultanate Oman, in close partnership with Oman Air. The CAA played a crucial role in easing the execution of this strategic expansion, offering travelers more convenient and varied travel choices.

Dr. Anwar Mohamed Al Rawas, Chairman of SalamAir, expressed his excitement about this achievement, emphasizing the ongoing support SalamAir receives from the Oman Civil Aviation Authority and its partnership with Oman Air.

This announcement has come roughly a month after Wego reported the shutdown of SalamAir’s flights to India, from 1 October 2023. At the time, the airline had cited the limited allocation of flight rights to India as the primary cause for the halt. The resumption of SalamAir’s budget services to India will be a welcome news to Indian expatriates in Oman.

At the time of writing, the airline has yet to announce flight schedules for the new routes.
