Key updates include extending temporary work visa validity from 90 to 180 days, giving businesses more time to manage their workforce during peak seasons. The sponsorship requirement has also been removed, making the process more accessible for both employers and workers.
The Ministry stated the “seasonal work visa” has been renamed to “temporary work visa for Hajj and Umrah services,” aiming to create a more attractive labor market for short-term employment. Visa issuance will now be permitted between the 15th of Sha’ban and the end of Muharram, aligning with key religious seasons.
The updated regulations also emphasize worker protection, requiring signed contracts and medical insurance for temporary employees. These changes will take effect 180 days after approval, offering businesses a grace period to adapt to the new rules.
