The Ministry of Sports has confirmed that Saudi Arabia will host the Spanish Super Cup for the fourth time. The tournament, featuring football giants Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and newcomer Osasuna, will take place from 10 to 14 January 2024, as reported by Wego.
The knockout stage of the tournament will be hosted at Riyadh’s Awal Park stadium. The competition begins with a match between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid on 10 January. Defending champion Barcelona will face Osasuna on 11 January. The final showdown between the winners is scheduled for 14 January.
This marks the fourth time Saudi Arabia has hosted the Spanish tournament finals. The inaugural edition took place in Jeddah in 2020, followed by the second edition in Riyadh in 2022. Barcelona claimed the title in the third edition held early in 2023.
Real Madrid enters the tournament as the reigning Copa del Rey champion, while Barcelona holds the title of Spanish League champion. Osasuna, runner-up to the cup champion, will make its debut appearance in the Spanish Super Cup. Atlético Madrid, having finished third in Spain’s “La Liga” league for the 2022-2023 season, completes the lineup of eligible teams.
