The Council of Ministers session was convened by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, on 19 March 2024. One notable outcome of this meeting was the designation of March 27th as the annual Saudi Green Initiative Day reports Wego.


The Saudi Green Initiative is in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. It stands as an ambitious national endeavor aimed at combating climate change, enhancing the quality of life, and safeguarding the environment for generations to come. To honor this initiative, the 27th of March has been designated as Saudi Green Initiative Day.

During the meeting, the council also approved that the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites will oversee the Project of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Center for Cosmic Sciences and Crescent Observations, along with the Makkah Clock, and both internal and external crescent observatories.

  • the council emphasizes Saudi Arabia’s backing for charitable efforts, particularly the successful Fourth National Campaign for Charitable Work, which garnered a huge response, showcasing remarkable solidarity and generosity among benefactors in acts of goodness and giving.
  • the council celebrated the fact that non-oil activities contributed 50% to Saudi Arabia’s real GDP in 2023, aligning perfectly with the goals of Vision 2030 for economic diversification.
  • the council also discussed the messages received by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman from the President of Uzbekistan and the Secretary-General of the United Nations. These messages covered various topics, including the situation in Gaza.
  • the council approved an agreement between Saudi Arabia and the International Monetary Fund to establish the IMF’s regional office in Riyadh.
