Saudi Arabia issues various types of visas depending upon the purpose and duration of stay. The visit visa is often used by immediate family members of the legal residents or citizens of Saudi Arabia who are living outside of KSA to visit their families in the Kingdom. Fortunately for immigrants in the Kingdom and their families, the Saudi authorities have simplified the visit visa extension policies.

Saudi visit visa extension latest news & rules
Both single and multiple-entry visit visas allow a stay duration of 90 days in the Kingdom. This means they can be extended twice, taking the total duration of stay to 270 days. Family visit visa may be extended more than once through Absher, provided the total period of the extensions does not exceed six months, i.e. 180 days (this excludes Syrian nationals). The extension period shall be equal to the duration of the basic visa.
Multiple entry family visit visa extension
The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) has recently clarified that multiple-entry family visit visas can be extended only after departing the country. Moreover, those who fail to leave the country and extend their visit visas will have to pay fines after three days from the expiry of their visa.

Single entry family visit visa extension
The authorities have also announced that the single-entry family visit visa can be extended through the applicant’s account on the Absher platform 7 days before the expiry date. However, the applicant will need to have valid medical insurance and the total extended duration of the visit should not be more than 180 days.
Saudi visit visa extension insurance
To get your Saudi visit visa extended, you’ll first need to obtain medical insurance covering the entire duration of the extension.
Health insurance coverage can be obtained through licensed insurance companies in the Kingdom, such as Tawuniya, Bupa, Medgulf, GulfUnion, Arabian Shield Cooperative Insurance, Arabia Cooperative Insurance, Al-Etihad Cooperative, Al-Sagr Cooperative Health Insurance, AXA Cooperative, Allied Cooperative Insurance Group (ACIG), Al- Rajhi Takaful, Walaa, and Saudi Enaya.
You can check the validity of your health insurance on Absher. Log into your account on Absher and click on “Inquiries” under “Family Members”. Select “Query Health Insurance”. Choose the family member to see the validity of their medical insurance.
Saudi visit visa extension process
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia allows both online and offline extension of its visit visas.
Online Saudi visit visa extension
- Login to the Absher platform.
- Select “Passport Services” from the list of services.
- Choose the service “Visit Visa Extension”.
- Enter the required information and attachments.
- Pay the fees.
- Submit your application.
Offline Saudi visit visa extension
You need to visit your nearest Jawazat office. You can get the appointment via the Absher app, fill in the extension details and necessary forms in the Jawazat office and begin the extension process.
Please note that applicants outside the KSA cannot access the Absher portal. You have to be inside the Kingdom to gain access to the Absher application.
Saudi visit visa extension fee
The extension fee for any Saudi Arabia visit visa is SAR 100 (USD 26.59).
If you are applying for an extension of your Saudi visa after three days of its expiry date, you will be required to pay an additional fee of SAR 500 (USD 133) as a fine.
