Ah, Paris. The city of love and lights. Whether it’s the gourmet food, luxury shopping or just the culture you fall for, there’s no denying that the titles are appropriately bestowed.

Paris is and always will be the de rigueur city of romantic notions. The city is so alluring that you tend to feel inclined to waltz instead of walk down the streets of the Champs Elys©es with or without a partner in tow.

During winter, the air is crisp with a hint of dewiness that fills your being as you inhale the love that lingers in the air. Okay, that might be a little bit of love overkill but the place that stole my heart is the luxurious five star H´tel Plaza Athenee which is conveniently nestled between the Avenue des Champs Elys©es and the Eiffel Tower.

Operating since 1913, it has certainly made a lasting impression on both local and international guests alike and lives up to its name as one of the finest hotels in Paris with its refined and elegant charm. Either a classical French or art deco theme awaits you in any of the 194 guest rooms which include 46 suites.

The most difficult decision to make is choosing the view you’d like to wake up to each morning. Whether it’s overlooking the quietly charming courtyard, people watching on the Avenue Montaigne or gazing at the iconic Eiffel Tower where many a single woman has thrilled to that very special question from their partners, each offers its own unique snapshot of Paris. Special packages like romantic getaways (naturally) and others add a little something different to your stay.

That said, the best part of the hotel in my opinion is the Dior Institute Spa. If you are planning a spacation, this would be the ultimate. Your body, tired from relentless shopping is lovingly kneaded, knots in legs from walking around the Louvre disappear like magic, all thanks to the specially trained therapists while you slip into a dreamy slumber on the trademark white and grey linen beds.

In another story of perfect pairings the Plaza Athenee and the House of Christian Dior enjoy a long standing relationship with the designer himself selecting the hotel as the backdrop for photographing his models since 1947. The spa has since been a hit renowned for their luxurious treatments and five star products. The experience commences the moment you step onto the white polished marbled floors. Inside, leathered walls, plush carpeting and soft illuminating lights create a sanctuary-like atmosphere. The treatment room warmly beckons as you leave all cares at the door and you’re guaranteed a pampering session that will take your senses to a whole new level.
