Why Gulf flights can change
EASA’s bulletin revised on 31 August 2026, valid through 30 September unless reviewed earlier, advises covered operators to avoid specified maritime airspace over the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. It allows necessary airport arrivals and departures in the Persian Gulf with risk mitigation and calls for caution over land.
The warning reflects continuing risk from the US-Iran conflict. Gulf airspace can close with little notice, so flights may be delayed, rerouted or cancelled.
