Syria officially opened a new consulate in Jeddah on 7 May 2026, giving hundreds of thousands of Syrians living in Saudi Arabia a closer place to handle passports, visas and other paperwork.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani inaugurated the Consulate General in a ceremony attended by senior Saudi foreign ministry officials.
What Does the Jeddah Consulate Offer?
The consulate handles the paperwork Syrians in Saudi Arabia need most: passport renewals, visa processing, and other consular documentation.
Previously, Syrians in the Jeddah and Makkah region had to travel to Riyadh for these services.
During the inauguration, al-Shaibani met with members of the Syrian community in Saudi Arabia and heard their concerns directly. He stressed the importance of improving consular services for Syrians living abroad.

How to Book an Appointment
Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs runs an online booking portal for all consular appointments.
You can schedule your visit in advance and receive a confirmation notification. The service is free and the ministry warns against using brokers or intermediaries.
There’s also the MOFA SY mobile app, available on both Android and iOS, which lets you book appointments and track your requests from your phone.
