Airports of Thailand (AOT) will raise the international departure passenger service charge (PSC) from 730 baht to 1,120 baht per person starting June 20, 2026.
The 390-baht increase — a jump of roughly 53% — applies to all outbound international passengers at the six airports AOT manages across the country.
Which Airports Are Affected?
The new 1,120-baht charge applies to international departures only at all six AOT-operated airports:
- Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) — Bangkok
- Don Mueang Airport (DMK) — Bangkok
- Chiang Mai Airport (CNX) — Chiang Mai
- Phuket Airport (HKT) — Phuket
- Hat Yai Airport (HDY) — Hat Yai
- Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai Airport (CEI) — Chiang Rai
Domestic flights are not affected. The domestic PSC remains unchanged at 130 baht per passenger to support the government’s domestic tourism promotion policy.
The charge is automatically included in your airline ticket price, so you won’t pay it separately at the airport.
Why Is AOT Raising the Fee?
AOT says the additional revenue will be used for airport-related infrastructure and service upgrades. The company has stressed that the PSC is not a tax or profit-generating revenue, and that the increase went through ministerial and regulatory approval.
Specific projects earmarked for the funding include:
- Suvarnabhumi Airport expansion projects, including the South Terminal
- Passenger terminal renovation at Don Mueang Airport
- Rollout of Common Use Passenger Processing Systems (CUPPS) to reduce check-in wait times across all six airports
The increase was first approved in principle by the Civil Aviation Board on December 3, 2025. AOT then issued an official notice to the Stock Exchange of Thailand on February 20, 2026, confirming the new rate and June 20 effective date.
AOT’s long-term goal is to expand capacity across its airports to handle 180 million passengers annually by 2034, positioning Thailand as a sustainable regional aviation hub.
