The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi officially announced the launch of Thailand’s Electronic Visa System (e-Visa) in India, effective 1 January 2025, Wego reports. This initiative is set to streamline the visa application process for non-Thai nationals residing in India, enabling them to apply for visas via the official portal.
We’re thrilled to announce that 🇹🇭’s e-Visa will be implemented in India from 1 Jan 2025. All non-Thais currently stay in India can apply at https://t.co/xjUPIiV6QF.

Applicants can submit their e-Visa applications either directly or through representatives. While the platform simplifies the process, the Embassy has clarified that applicants must follow specific offline payment options to complete the process. Once the visa fee is received, processing will take approximately 14 working days.
Despite the introduction of the e-Visa system, the 60-day visa exemption for tourism and short business purposes will remain valid for Indian passport holders. This exemption allows Indian nationals to travel to Thailand for specified purposes without needing a visa, providing continued flexibility and ease of travel.
Additionally, the Embassy outlined key dates for the transition. The existing visa application system for ordinary passports will continue until 16 December 2024, while applications for diplomatic and official passports will be accepted until 24 December 2024. Further details on the e-Visa system and its implementation across the Embassy and Consulate-Generals will be provided in due course.
