Who is eligible for the Turkish Airlines student discount?
- To be eligible, you must be between 12 and 34 years old for international tickets, and between 12 and 25 years old for domestic or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) tickets with Turkish Airlines.
- You must hold valid proof of studentship, such as a university, college, high school, or language school ID, an ISIC card, or a certificate or transcript signed or stamped by a competent authority.
- Your uploaded details, including your name and date of birth, must match exactly with your Miles&Smiles profile and the supporting document.
- You must reapply every year, as your studentship status expires after 12 months.

How do I activate the discount in my Miles&Smiles account?
- Join or log in to Miles&Smiles.
- In Personal / My Personal Information, add the “Student” (for Türkiye-based Turkish citizens) or “Student (International)” passenger type.
- Upload your student document(s) in the requested format.
- Wait for around 7 business days for approval (track it in your account or via email).
- Re-verify each year to keep the perks.
What discounts and perks do I get?
Discount percentage
- For domestic flights within Türkiye, students receive a 20% discount on the base fare.
- For flights between Türkiye and Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the discount ranges from 10% to 20% on the base fare.
- For international flights, students are eligible for a 15% discount on the base fare.
Please note that taxes and surcharges are not subject to any discount and must be paid in full.
Baggage allowance
- For domestic and TRNC flights, student passengers are allowed the same baggage limits as regular adult passengers. In Economy Class, the allowance is up to 20 kg, and in Business Class, it is up to 30 kg.
- For international flights, students are entitled to a higher baggage allowance. The total allowance is 40 kg. If the route follows the piece concept, students may check in two pieces of luggage, each weighing up to 23 kg.
Flight change fee waiver
For international student fares, the first change to the flight is free of charge. However, any difference in fare resulting from the change will still need to be paid. This is not applicable for domestic flights.
Please note that for all ticket types under the student fare program, the return flight must take place within 12 months from the date of departure.

- PNR rule:
- Domestic: If more than one passenger is in the Passenger Name Record (PNR) and not everyone is a student, only those with student status get the advantages. Separate bookings can avoid confusion.
- International: If there is more than one passenger in the PNR, the benefits are only valid if all passengers on the ticket have student status.
- Promo/award exclusions: Not applicable to promotional fare classes, group bookings or award tickets.
- Non-transferable: You can’t transfer these rights to someone else, and misuse can result in denied travel or legal action.
I’m already a Miles&Smiles member; what else do I need to do?
- You still need to add and verify the Student passenger type. If you don’t, the system won’t apply the student perks.

Can parents book or pay for my student ticket?

Is Business Class included?
Yes, for domestic and TRNC routes. Student fares are available in both Economy and Business Class. However, for international routes, the student discount only applies to Economy Class tickets.
How long does approval take for the program?
Once you submit your documents for student verification through your Miles&Smiles account, it typically takes about seven business days for Turkish Airlines to process your application.
Can I change my flight more than once?
For international student tickets, the first change is free, but subsequent changes are subject to standard fare rules and fees. For domestic and TRNC tickets, changes follow regular fare policies without any additional student-specific waiver.
Are taxes discounted?
No. The student discount applies only to the base fare of the ticket. Taxes, fuel surcharges, and other fees must be paid in full.

Do I need to reapply each year?
