UAE nationals holding ordinary passports can now complete arrival procedures at several Mexican airports through electronic gates, effective 11 June 2026.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the change. Here’s who qualifies, who’s exempt, and what you must keep.
What’s Changed
Under the new arrangement, eligible UAE travellers to Mexico skip the usual manual immigration counters and use automated e-gates instead.
The gate issues a ticket with a QR code linked to the Multiple Digital Migration Form (FMMD), which serves as your official record of entry.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs frames it as a benefit of bilateral ties between the two countries, and points travellers to the destination guidelines on its website and smart app for full details.
The timing is convenient: Mexico is co-hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026 alongside the United States and Canada, with matches drawing fans from across the Gulf.
Who Can Use the E-Gates
The measure applies to UAE citizens holding ordinary passports who are 18 years of age or older.
It does not apply to the following groups, who should continue using standard immigration counters:
- Temporary or permanent residents of Mexico
- Holders of diplomatic passports
- Holders of special and mission (official) passports
Mexico’s National Migration Institute (INM) also requires e-gate users to carry a biometric passport valid for at least 180 days at the time of entry, and to be entering as a visitor.
Keep Your Digital Migration Form
The most important step happens after you clear the gate: retain the FMMD throughout your entire stay in Mexico.
Scanning the QR code on your ticket takes you to the immigration website, where you can view and download the form as proof of your legal entry.
