US To Canada Travel Restrictions, Flights News & Travel Ban In 2021 – Advisory & Requirements

Canada: Open for Travel

Travel through the Canadian land border is allowed for vaccinated travelers
American citizens and permanent residents that are fully vaccinated are allowed to travel through the Canadian-US border.

Quarantine-Free

No quarantine required for vaccinated travelers
Fully vaccinated travelers with valid proof of vaccination are not required to quarantine upon arrival in Canada.

COVID-19 test required

COVID-19 test may be required on arrival for vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers may be randomly selected for the border testing surveillance program on arrival in Canada. Travelers are not required to quarantine while awaiting test results. If selected, travelers must take the test or will be subject to quarantine and penalties/fines.
If the test is positive, travelers must submit to quarantine immediately and contact local public health authorities.

Details and Exemptions:Travelers may receive notifications from ArriveCAN. If qualified for the fully vaccinated exemption, travelers may ignore these notifications.

Masks are required

Masks are mandatory during travel and in some provinces
Travelers must wear masks in all airports and in-flight. Travelers must also wear a mask in public in some provinces and cities. For more information about regional mask requirements, please check the source.

Required Documents for your Trip

Mandatory proof of vaccination
Travelers who are fully vaccinated must have a vaccination certificate in English, French, or with a certified translation. The certificate must be uploaded digitally into the ArriveCAN app and must contain all details required.

Fully vaccinated travelers must have received the full course of vaccination, or a combination of vaccines Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca (Covishield), or Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) at least 14 days before arrival in Canada.

Travelers who have recovered from COVID-19 are still required to have a full course of one of the accepted vaccines to be considered fully vaccinated.

Travelers unable to present a valid certificate may be required to comply with rules for unvaccinated travelers.

All travelers are required to submit a quarantine plan and a COVID-19 “self-assessment” a maximum of 72 hours before arrival. The information must be submitted digitally through the ArriveCAN app.

Details and Exemptions:Anyone who cannot submit the information through the app, because of a disability or “inadequate infrastructure,” will need to contact the government using a toll-free telephone number prior to starting their trip.
