Travel is allowed with restrictions
Travelers are allowed to enter Costa Rica by air. Please check the documentation, quarantine, and/or testing requirements before traveling.
Details and Exemptions:U.S. citizens with residency in Costa Rica who are not up to date with Caja payments will still be allowed to enter but will be required to become up to date with all payments in the last 22 days. Persons in this category must also purchase health insurance to cover the cost of any COVID-19 treatment or lodging for the 22-day grace period.

No proof of a negative COVID-19 test required for entry
Travelers are not required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result when traveling to Costa Rica.

Masks are required
Masks are mandatory in public places
Travelers must wear masks in all public spaces and in all indoor settings except when eating, while alone, or in a private home. The use of masks is also mandatory at bus stops and on all forms of public transportation.

Required Documents for your Trip
Mandatory proof of vaccination
Fully vaccinated travelers must have proof that they have been fully vaccinated with any of the following vaccines: Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, or Johnson & Johnson. Travelers must have completed the final dose of the vaccine at least 14 days before their departure to Costa Rica.
Travelers that have received a combination of two different vaccines may still be considered fully vaccinated. Please check the link for more information on accepted vaccine combinations.

Mandatory health declaration form
Travelers are required to fill out an Epidemiological Health Pass Form a maximum of 72 hours before arrival in Costa Rica. An individual form must be completed for every person, including minors.
