Hong Kong: Closed for Travel

Entry restricted for international travelers
Travelers who have stayed in selected countries the 21 days before travel are not allowed to enter Hong Kong.

Details and Exemptions:Entry restrictions do not apply to:
-Fully vaccinated Hong Kong residents with a recognized vaccination record;
-Children under the age of 12, accompanied by fully vaccinated parents who are residents of Hong Kong;
-Vaccinated spouses of Hong Kong residents with the required documentation.

21 days quarantine

Mandatory 21-day quarantine and testing
Travelers who have been in selected countries in the past 21 days before travel must quarantine for 21 days in designated quarantine hotels. Travelers must take 6 tests during quarantine and self-monitor for a further 7 days. An additional test on day 26 after arrival is also mandatory.

COVID-19 test required

Mandatory COVID-19 test on arrival
Travelers arriving via the Hong Kong International Airport are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival. If their test results are negative, they will be allowed to go to the hotel for which they made the reservation to continue the compulsory quarantine until completion. If their results are positive, the travelers will be transferred to the hospital for quarantine and treatment.

Masks are required

Masks are mandatory in public
Travelers must wear masks in all public places, including on public transportation and in airports.

Health screening on arrival
Temperature screening is required for all travelers on arrival. Travelers with a high temperature will undergo further checks.

Required Documents for your Trip

Mandatory proof of vaccination
Fully vaccinated travelers must have a valid proof of having received the last dose of the vaccine at least 14 days before travel. The vaccine must be accepted by the authorities of Hong Kong. For a list of types of vaccines accepted, please check the source.

Details and Exemptions:From 29 October, travelers aged 12 to 17 who have received one dose of the Comirnaty vaccine at least 14 days before travel are considered fully vaccinated.

From 29 October, travelers who are residents of Hong Kong who have received one dose of a recognized COVID-19 vaccine and hold a recognized vaccination record are considered fully vaccinated if they were certified by a medical practitioner that they were unfit to receive the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine because of health reasons.

Some travelers must have their proof of vaccination issued in specific countries.

Mandatory health declaration form
All travelers are required to submit a health declaration form to border control. The submission can be done online or with a paper form.

Details and Exemptions:After submitting the online form, the system will generate a QR code. Travelers should save the result and show it to the border control point staff when entering Hong Kong. The QR code is valid for 48 hours.

Mandatory accommodation reservation
Travelers arriving from selected countries must have confirmation in English or Chinese of room reservation in a designated quarantine-hotel in Hong Kong for not less than 21 days. For a list of exemptions, please check the source.

Proof of negative COVID-19 test results
Travelers arriving from selected countries must have a negative COVID-19 PCR nucleic acid test result in English or Chinese. The sample must be taken within 72 hours before the scheduled departure time of the last flight to Hong Kong.

Documentary proof in English or Chinese is required to show that the laboratory or healthcare institution is ISO 15189 accredited or is recognized or approved by the relevant authority of the government of the place in which the laboratory or healthcare institution is located.
